What to Know

  • Zcash dropped 16% from its recent peak, triggering $28.37 million in liquidations as leveraged long traders absorbed most recorded losses.
  • ZEC remains above major moving averages, but weakened momentum and elevated volatility leave the broader rally exposed to deeper price corrections.
  • Holding support between $1,050 and $1,100 could support stabilization, while a breakdown may direct ZEC toward the $910 moving-average level.

Zcash traders faced widespread forced exits as ZEC erased 16% from its recent peak during a volatile market reversal. The decline followed an aggressive rally that carried the privacy-focused cryptocurrency above $1,200 within only several weeks.

According to liquidation data, ZEC positions generated $28.37 million in liquidations across cryptocurrency derivatives markets during the past 24 hours. Long traders absorbed $23.75 million of those losses, while short-position liquidations reached a comparatively smaller $4.62 million.

Consequently, the imbalance showed how heavily traders had positioned for further gains before sellers regained control of the market. Many bullish positions relied on leverage, leaving them vulnerable when ZEC retreated and exchanges automatically closed undercollateralized trades.

Selling pressure remained elevated during the 12-hour period, when total liquidations reached $11.49 million across tracked trading platforms. Long positions represented $9.40 million, confirming that falling prices caused most forced closures during the broader pullback.

However, four-hour figures highlighted rapid changes in positioning as volatility moved through both sides of the derivatives market. That period produced $1.34 million in liquidations, including $1.19 million from shorts caught during temporary upward price movements.

ZEC Maintains Broader Technical Strength Despite Heavy Deleveraging

Despite the sell-off, ZEC remains well above several important moving averages that supported its broader technical structure. Its 20-day moving average stands near $910, while the 50-day average sits around $689.

Additionally, the 100-day moving average remains near $646, while the longer-term indicator holds around $531. These wide gaps demonstrate the scale and speed of ZEC’s earlier advance from below $500 to above $1,200.

However, they also leave considerable space for a deeper correction without completely reversing the token’s broader upward structure. Traders often secure profits during extended rallies, while leveraged positions can accelerate declines when prices move against crowded expectations.

Momentum has already weakened, with the Relative Strength Index falling toward 64 from previously overbought territory. Although that reading remains above the neutral level, it indicates buyers have lost some control during the retracement.

Market participants may now assess the $1,050 to $1,100 region as an important short-term support area. Holding that range could allow ZEC to stabilize while buyers evaluate whether demand can support another recovery attempt.

Conversely, a decisive move below the zone could expose the token to additional losses toward its 20-day moving average. The $910 level would then become increasingly relevant because it previously tracked the developing trend beneath the market price.

Zcash’s liquidation wave reflects a broad leverage reset following an unusually rapid price expansion. Nevertheless, elevated volatility and weakened momentum leave ZEC vulnerable unless demand strengthens near support and buyers reclaim the recent peak.
