Grayscale just hit a milestone nobody expected this fast. The world’s first Zcash fund crossed $1 billion in assets under management. ZCSH only started trading a month ago.

What Grayscale Announced

Grayscale shared the news directly on its  X account. “$1B in AUM,” the post read. “The world’s first Zcash fund $ZCSH just hit a new milestone.”

Grayscale called ZEC one of the assets defining the next era of digital finance. The fund’s SEC filings show the growth trail leading up to this point.

AUM crossed $500 million just two weeks after launch, boosted by a $100 million share purchase from DCG International Investments.

Zcash Needed Trust Before It Needed Capital

A fund this size only works if investors trust the underlying network. Zcash developers finalized their Ironwood upgrade earlier this year.

It rebuilds confidence after a critical Orchard vulnerability raised fears of undetectable counterfeit ZEC.

That fix gave institutional buyers a cleaner supply story to stand behind. Capital tends to follow confidence, not the other way around.

The Growth Timeline Behind the Milestone

ZCSH launched on NYSE Arca on August 25, 2026. It became the first exchange-traded product in the world offering spot exposure to ZEC.

Cumulative net inflows passed $233 million by mid-September, including a single $112 million day on September 8. Net assets reached roughly $890 million by September 17.

Weekly trading volume hit $11.42 billion for the week ending September 18, accounting for 32.5% of all spot crypto ETF turnover that week.

Grayscale also announced a 3-for-1 forward share split, effective before markets open on September 30.

Weekly Chart Shows Strength Holding Steady

ZEC traded at $1,546.03 as of 07:20 UTC on September 25, 2026, up 4.6% over seven days, per CoinGecko.

The chart shows a sharp spike above $1,650 on September 23, followed by a pullback to current levels.

Price has held a tight range near $1,550 since, absorbing the pullback without breaking down further.

That kind of stability after a sharp move is often a healthier sign than a straight continuation higher would be.

Could Zcash Keep This Pace?

Zcash has outpaced the broader market before, continuing its own recovery even while Bitcoin stalled below key resistance.

That pattern of relative strength shows up again now, just backed by real institutional capital instead of retail momentum alone.

With $1 billion in AUM barely a month after launch and a share split arriving next week, the real question is whether this pace of inflows continues once the initial excitement fades.
