The American business intelligence firm Strategy has announced that it acquired 1,665 BTC for $142.7 million, extending its aggressive treasury expansion during the latest reporting week. With this recent purchase, Strategy has now spent approximately $14.3 billion on Bitcoin purchases year-to-date.
The acquisition has increased Strategy’s holdings to 847,666 BTC.
Meanwhile, at press time, the leading coin is priced at $83,400, according to CoinGecko market data.
Strategy Buys BTC Worth $142.7M
Between September 21 and September 27, Strategy conducted a significant stock sale, generating funds for new bitcoin purchases. During this period, the company sold 1,469,165 MSTR shares, bringing in $246.2 million. Out of this amount, $142.7 million was spent on buying bitcoin, while $103.5 million was used to repurchase STRC shares.
According to the company’s latest filings, each bitcoin cost approximately $85,681, including fees, resulting in a total of 847,666 BTC after the purchase. The total represents an investment of $63.95 billion, and Strategy’s overall average purchase price for bitcoin is now $75,437.
These figures demonstrate how rapidly Strategy’s BTC holdings have grown through continuous purchases financed by capital raised from stock sales. The latest acquisition aligns with the firm’s ongoing plan to accumulate more bitcoin.
STRC Buybacks Strengthen Strategy’s Capital Plan
During that week, Strategy bought back 1,534,530 of its STRC preferred shares for $151.7 million. The company used $103.5 million from sales of MSTR stock for this buyback and $48.1 million from its existing USD Cash.
This approach lets Strategy use some of the capital it raised while also tapping into its cash reserves. The company keeps USD Cash for various bitcoin-related purposes, such as making purchases, expanding reserves, managing capital, and other corporate needs.
As of September 27, Strategy reported having $1 billion in USD Cash left, which gives management flexibility after these transactions. The separate USD Reserve was $5.02 billion and is set aside mainly for paying preferred dividends and interest on debt.
In other news, the public asset manager Strive also completed its latest BTC acquisition. Chairman and CEO Matt Cole announced that the firm acquired 1,107 BTC for $94.5 million. Each unit of the apex coin was acquired at an average price of $85,396 per coin. This brings its total holdings to 27,462 BTC as the company continues to build its corporate Bitcoin position through preferred-equity financing.
