  • Ripple launched the XRPL AI Starter Kit for developers.
  • XRP and RLUSD now support X402-powered autonomous AI transactions.
  • Ripple positioned RLUSD for stable agent payments and settlements.

Ripple has launched the XRPL AI Starter Kit, a new collection of tools and integrations designed to help developers build AI-powered payment applications on the XRP Ledger. According to Ripple, the initiative enables autonomous AI agents to transact using XRP and Ripple USD (RLUSD) while accessing services such as APIs, computing resources, and other digital products.

The launch reflects growing interest in agentic commerce, where AI systems can complete tasks and settle payments without direct human involvement. As these systems become more capable, developers are increasingly seeking payment infrastructure that can support automated transactions with predictable costs and fast settlement. According to Ripple, the XRPL AI Starter Kit is being introduced in phases, with the first phase focused on providing developers with tools, documentation, and integrations to simplify building agent-driven applications on XRPL.

Developers can now access XRPL documentation through the XRPL Docs MCP Server, a tool that allows compatible AI environments, including Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor, and custom frameworks, to retrieve XRP Ledger information when needed. Ripple also released XRPL Agent Wallet and XRPL Payment Skills for Claude, allowing AI agents to create wallets, monitor balances, send payments, and track transactions.

New tools bring XRP and RLUSD into AI-driven transactions

A key part of the launch involves support for X402-powered payments. According to Ripple, XRPL is now a supported chain within the X402 protocol through a contribution from technology partner t54. As a result, AI agents can use XRP or RLUSD to pay for API requests, AI model inference, computing resources, and other digital services. Ripple noted that these capabilities allow machine-to-machine transactions to occur directly on the XRP Ledger without relying on traditional payment processes.

The company also highlighted several network features it believes support agentic payments. XRPL transactions settle within 3 to 5 seconds and either confirm or expire, reducing uncertainty in automated workflows. In addition, transaction costs remain predictable because the network does not use gas fee auctions.

Ripple further pointed to XRPL’s built-in decentralized exchange and native multi-currency payment capabilities. These features allow an agent to send one asset and deliver another through a single transaction. Consequently, developers can avoid external bridges and separate swap services. The company also emphasized the ledger’s operational history. According to Ripple, XRPL has operated continuously since 2012 without transaction rollbacks. That track record may appeal to organizations evaluating infrastructure for AI-driven financial applications.

RLUSD positioned for stable-value agent payments

Ripple also used the announcement to highlight RLUSD’s role in autonomous payment systems, noting that many agentic workflows require stable pricing for activities such as invoice settlement, payroll distribution, and agent-to-agent commerce. RLUSD operates natively on XRPL, developers can use the same transaction framework that supports XRP payments. Moreover, RLUSD can be exchanged for other assets through the network’s built-in decentralized exchange.

Ripple stated that the XRPL AI Starter Kit represents the first stage of a broader strategy focused on agentic payments. The company added that future updates will be guided by developer feedback and emerging use cases as autonomous payment systems continue to evolve.

Ripple’s latest initiative places XRP and RLUSD at the center of its push into AI-powered commerce. By introducing tools that support autonomous transactions, the company is positioning the XRP Ledger as infrastructure for a growing machine-to-machine economy.
