This sigh is not merely the generic sigh of relief, but rather the sigh of relief that all the Resident Evil fans can let out after the speculation about the possible delay for the highly anticipated Resident Evil 9 have finally been put to rest. Following that, as Dusk Golem, whose well-deserved reputation for release of RESVE leaks stands, the development is back to square one, yet the release is planned for late January next year.

Development progress

According to Dusk Golem,

“I have good news/rumors to deliver on Resident Evil 9. The possible delay I had heard murmurs about can be pushed aside. RE9 should be revealed pretty soon and released next year. If what I heard previously holds true, it should be in January. It’ll have had about seven years in dev.”

Resident Evil 9 might have become the most ambitious game among all the past episodes, with a development cycle that resembles that of no previous zombie game. Though the display ended with a new Dusk Golem gear, it surprised the audience that the game’s dev team has been working on it for seven years more than any other Resident Evil game. In a further development, the undercover explained that Resident Evil 9 has the most expensive budget throughout the whole franchise’s history.

Resident Evil 9 fan anticipation

The game’s origin is steam-rollable to early 2018 when it was borne out of the idea to develop it as a Resident Evil 8. Nonetheless, the job behind Resident Evil Village was off somehow, and the people who had the original idea of Resident Evil 8 took it over.

With Resident Evil 8 and 9 having been under development simultaneously, Capcom decided to be strategic and shape a broader plan for a period of time so that fans can get a feel of continuity and be talking about new chapters of the series every year.

The cumulative development strategy seeks to guarantee the publishing of the Resident Evil games at guaranteed regular timeframes. That way, the fans can be sure to enjoy new installments every now and then.

Although Capcom has refrained from sharing details of Resident Evil 9, some speculations have arisen on the possibility that the game might gravitate more towards an open-world theme as opposed to the former. Focusing on the players, this strategy could allow the gamer to enter a frightening environment and increase the survival horror experience.
