The First Artifacts of FORREST

This NFT depicts the first artifacts sporting my new name, Forrest Mortifee. The column to the right shows the texts I sent my friend Sho on Feb. 27, 2022, right after I'd settled on the name. The column on the left is my first show poster as Forrest Mortifee. (ps, come through 12/22/22 !) After almost 9 full months "in the womb", Forrest Mortifee was birthed last week on my 30th birthday. I finally realized I was ready to go by that name exclusively, letting the 4-year chapter of Clear come to a close. I'm a trans man, and I now want a name that feels as masculine and as grounded in my body as I do. I've spent the last week coming out to my immediate family and close friends ~ plus all the homies on twitter + tiktok lol. I'm about to come out on IG (where I'm most visible), and subsequently change my artist name on streaming platforms, etc. - but first! I wanted to mint this free, 7-day time-gated, unlimited edition NFT. A little history: back in 2015, I had a band called Claire Mortifee & The Mothership. In homage and in evolution, I've called this new rendition Forrest Mortifee & The Fathership. Self-parenting and indeed self-fathering as a man is something I'm ecstatic to explore further. Re-defining masculine compassion, freedom, and courage (heartfullness) is a sparkly-eyed passion of mine. I can't wait for this life ahead of me.
