With news of the merge happening soon, there has been an increase in buying BETH on the BETH/ETH trading pair.

A month ago, BETH was trading around 0.93 and it has since jumped to around 0.965. One can assume this is because people want to get that sweet free bonus ETH by trading their ETH for BETH, and why wouldn't you?! Once it's all over your BETH will be swapped back 1:1 for ETH.

Only, if what I've been reading is correct, that isn't going to happen soon. It's unlikely to even happen this year.

According to Binance:

"Staked ETH cannot be redeemed until Shard Chains are fully implemented."

https://www.binance.com/en/eth2

And according to Ethereum:

"Shard chains should ship sometime in 2023, depending on how quickly work progresses after The Merge."

https://ethereum.org/en/upgrades/shard-chains/

So, if I'm reading this right, people appear to be getting a bit too excited a bit too early and we won't be getting our BETH swamped for ETH until next year.
