Could Elizabeth Warren's 'Anti-Crypto Army' Lead to Crypto Ban in U.S.?

The post Senator Elizabeth Warren Questions Starlink Ukraine Claims, Urges Congress to Investigate Elon Musk appeared first on Coinpedia Fintech News

Senator Elizabeth Warren has called for an investigation into Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk and his company, SpaceX. This comes following allegations that Musk may have obstructed a Ukrainian military operation against Russia’s Black Sea fleet last year by restricting access to SpaceX’s Starlink satellite network.

Post her allegations about Elon Musk, Warren has also faced scrutiny on social media for her own financial gains during her political career, accumulating assets worth nearly $12 million over a decade, while earning an annual salary of $193,000. This has raised questions about potential insider trading.

Allegations and Musk’s Response

In a recent biography on Musk by Walter Isaacson, it was revealed that Musk instructed his engineers to turn off Starlink satellite communications near Crimea in 2022, which allegedly disrupted a Ukrainian drone attack on Russian military ships. However, Musk has denied these allegations, stating that Starlink was not active in the region.

Senator Warren’s call for an investigation revolves around concerns about the influence of billionaires in matters of foreign policy and national integrity. She has emphasized the need for government oversight to ensure that foreign policies should not be a puppet in billionaire’s hands. The feud between the two has been raging since 2021 when Warren accused Elon of freeloading on tax payer’s money. Elon replied to her with the tag of “Angry Mom”.

Senator Warren pressed for an FTC investigation into Elon Musk’s online behavior last year. This call came after Musk streamlined his company, citing worries about user safety.

Warren’s Grave Concerns on the Defense Department’s Role

Senator Warren is also demanding an investigation into the Defense Department’s contract with SpaceX, which provides Starlink satellite services to Ukraine. Despite confirmation of the contract, specifics are kept confidential for security purposes. This move by SpaceX, prompted by Russia’s 2022 invasion, underscores the involvement of private entities in international affairs. It also stresses the need for clear, transparent government contracts, especially in matters of national security.

However, Musk said that he is committed to the United States and says he’d fight and die for the country. But his decision on Starlink has worried lawmakers.
