Realiti

Realiti is the first GAN-based artwork to be minted with its own smart contract on Ethereum and stands as one of the earliest AI art collections featured on OpenSea. A landmark in the history of AI art, it holds a foundational place at the intersection of generative systems, blockchain, and digital art. Developed by London-based artist, curator, and researcher Atay Ilgun in an attempt to create novel autonomous systems, the work draws upon stills from Grimes’ Realiti music video, algorithmically fused with image datasets gathered by web crawlers based on lyrical/thematic vectors from the song and of ‘reality’. Beyond its technical innovations and visionary utilisation of technology, Realiti is notable for its expressive, almost poetic application of early AI models, marking a contrast from the formalism often seen in its contemporaries, and offering a richly emotive engagement with machine vision, pop-cultural mythos and our digital sense of reality. https://atayilgun.co.uk/
