What is OATH?

OATH stands for Open Authentication, a two-factor authentication protocol that provides an extra layer of security to online accounts. It works by requiring users to enter a one-time code generated by an app or sent via text message in addition to their username and password. This additional step makes it much harder for hackers to gain access to user accounts, as they would need both the username/password combination and the one-time code.

The OATH protocol is open source and widely used across many different industries, including banking, healthcare, government, and more. It's designed to be flexible enough to work with any type of authentication system, from simple passwords to biometric scans. Additionally, it can be used with multiple devices such as smartphones or tablets.
