LINK Lags Bitcoin as Aave's 24/7 Data Deal Fails to Lift the Token

Quick Take

  • Aave became the launch partner for Chainlink 24/7, a feed that prices real-world assets through weekends and holidays.
  • LINK trades below both its 50-day and 200-day averages, and momentum still points lower.
  • The first support level now separates an orderly pullback from a deeper breakdown.

Chainlink now streams prices for stocks and commodities around the clock. Aave is the first major lender to use them. The feeds will help Aave value collateral on its institutional markets.

The token has not rewarded the news. LINK kept sliding through the launch window and lagged Bitcoin, while sellers held control of the chart. Traders now want to know whether real adoption can halt the decline before support gives way.

Aave Signs On as Chainlink Takes Market Data Around the Clock

Chainlink announced Chainlink 24/7 on October 29. The service delivers continuous market data for equities, commodities and other tokenized assets. Prices keep flowing through weekends and market holidays, when traditional exchanges are closed.

The launch extends the oracle network's earlier coverage, which ran on weekdays only. That gap mattered for onchain lenders. A stock-backed loan could drift out of line with reality while markets sat shut for two days.

Aave signed on as the official launch partner. The lending protocol will use the feeds to value collateral and manage position risk on its institutional lending markets. In practice, Aave can track the worth of tokenized assets at any hour and act before losses build.

The deal gives Chainlink a fresh use case with a major client. It does not, by itself, show how LINK holders capture value from that demand. So far the token's trend has not budged.

Both Moving Averages Now Sit Overhead

LINK changed hands near $10.73 on Friday, flat on the day. That leaves the token below both of the moving averages traders watch most closely.

The 200-day average, a gauge of the long-term trend, sits near $11.01. Price is just under it, so that line now works as a ceiling rather than a floor. Buyers would need to push LINK back above it before talking about a healthier long-term picture.

Further away, the 50-day average sits around $11.81. It tracks the medium-term trend, and it sits above the 200-day line. With price under both, the chart shows a bearish stack. Recent sellers have been more aggressive than the long-run average would suggest.

Recent performance tells the same story. LINK has lost about 8% over seven days and roughly 16% over the past month. Chainlink unveiled the feeds during that slide, so the Aave news hit a market already heading lower.

Good headlines rarely turn a chart on their own when the trend already points down. Traders tend to sell into strength until the structure changes.

The flat session offers a breather. A quiet day after a steep drop often reflects sellers taking a rest. It does not yet show buyers stepping in with conviction.

Sellers Keep the Upper Hand Without Panic

RSI, a 0 to 100 gauge of momentum, reads about 40 on the daily chart. That puts LINK on the weak side of neutral. Sellers have the edge, though the reading sits well clear of oversold territory.

Oversold readings below 30 often attract bargain hunters. LINK has not reached that zone, so the market still has room to slide before buyers usually feel tempted.

Other momentum signals lean the same way. The MACD, which tracks shifts in short-term momentum, remains below its signal line. In plain terms, the push is still pointing down.

The decline looks orderly so far. Holders are trimming steadily, with no sign of a rush for the exits.

Where $9.75 Fits Into the Bear Case

The nearest support sits around $9.75, roughly 9% below the current price. On the daily chart, that zone marks the first area where buyers would likely try to make a stand. A daily close beneath it would show that steady selling has turned into a breakdown.

Losing that floor would open the way to the next support near $8.07. The gap between the two levels is wide. Price could travel a long way before finding firm demand.

The upside map starts with resistance near $11.53. A move back above it would put LINK close to the 50-day line again and ease the pressure on bulls. That would signal relief without reversing the trend.

A bigger test waits around $12.71. Clearing that level would break the pattern of lower highs. Only then would the broader structure start to favor buyers.

Two Paths for the Next Three Days

Momentum still favors sellers, so the next three days hinge on two levels.

  • Bullish: A daily close back above the 200-day average would put the first resistance within reach. Slipping back under that long-term line would cancel the setup and hand control back to sellers.
  • Bearish: A close below first support would point toward the deeper floor. A recovery above the 200-day average would invalidate this path and suggest the selling has run its course.

Adoption Grows While the Chart Lags

The Aave partnership gives Chainlink a stronger business case, yet the token has not shared in that progress. Until LINK reclaims its first resistance, the trend stays with sellers.

Usage gains may never fully reach holders. A weaker broader market could also drag LINK toward its lower floors.
