Ripple Faces Developer Backlash

LUCKNOW (CoinChapter.com) – Ripple, the company behind XRP, is facing significant backlash from its developer community. The controversy stems from an edited podcast clip, raising questions about transparency and the company’s relationship with its ecosystem builders.

The incident revolves around a podcast series, “Exploring Ripple’s New Stablecoin Ripple USD,” featuring CTO David Schwartz and President Monica Long. In the original recording, Long discussed developer engagement on the XRP Ledger, stating, “We’ve put all of that effort in, and ultimately, it’s a bit of a chicken and egg to get developer momentum on the XRP Ledger, which we are seeing. There are already thousands of developers building projects…”

However, the version later posted on YouTube omitted the phrase about “thousands of developers building projects.” Daniel “No” Keller, CTO of Eminence and an XRPL Ambassador, was among the first to voice his concerns. In a tweet directed at Schwartz and Long, Keller questioned, “Why would you upload a podcast clip and then take it down to re-upload an altered version? What happened to the ‘thousands of developers’ bit?”

Keller’s comments cut deeper, suggesting that “Ripple and @RippleX have failed the community.” He emphasized the critical role of the community in supporting Ripple through challenging times, stating, “It’s the community that pushed you through hard times.”

Developers Call Out for Lack of Transparency

The controversy has exposed a growing rift between Ripple and its developer ecosystem. Keller expressed frustration with Ripple’s approach, saying, “We could fix the ecosystem in a blink of an eye. But I assume no one on YOUR END is interested in doing so. You could fix the ledger, but your choice has been not to do it.”

Stephen Chip, co-founder of onthechain.io, added to the criticism, highlighting issues with Ripple’s grant funding process. “Many of us have been left in the dark when it comes to grant funding,” Chip stated, noting that rejections seem more common than approvals.

However, not all community members view the situation negatively. Vet (@Vet_X0), a dUNL validator, defended Ripple’s actions, suggesting the edit might have been a correction of an overstatement. “It shows that there are people at Ripple and RippleX who know the ecosystem very well and corrected it,” Vet commented.
