Blur will deprecate its blur.io frontend on November 12, while its marketplace protocol will remain operational on-chain, the company’s official account confirmed on October 13. The announcement follows Blur’s decision to stop matching new loans through its Blend lending product on the same date.

November 12 frontend and Blend cutoff

Blur said it will deprecate the user-facing blur.io frontend on November 12, while its marketplace protocol remains operational on-chain and BLUR retains control of the protocol’s fee switch, according to the company’s official X account.

On the same date, Blend, Blur’s NFT-backed lending platform, will stop matching new loans, The Block reported on October 12.

Blend borrower deadline

Existing Blend borrowers must repay their loans by the cutoff or allow them to default. Blur plans to offer a withdrawal tool after that point, though the announced information did not specify further mechanics or a date for its availability.

The November deadline ends new loan matching, not every on-chain component immediately: borrowers with outstanding positions have a defined action date, while users awaiting withdrawals must wait for the planned post-cutoff tool.

Protocol remains after volume collapse

The distinction is between Blur’s web interface and its underlying marketplace protocol: the company says the protocol will remain live on-chain. The retained BLUR fee-switch control indicates that governance over that function is likewise not being retired alongside the frontend.

The move comes after a steep fall in marketplace activity. Blur’s monthly NFT trading volume declined from about $1.43 billion in March 2023 to less than $7 million in March 2026, a drop of more than 99.5%, according to CoinDesk.

November 12 is now the concrete deadline for the frontend deprecation, the end of new Blend loan matching and repayment decisions for outstanding Blend borrowers.
