XRP Foundation Adds Flare To VIP Validator List

The XRP Ledger Foundation has just added Flare Networks to their recommended validator list, giving the project a formal role in the network’s consensus process.
The move comes as Anodos Finance requested its own removal ahead of shutting down its node by November. Both Foundation & Ripple now publish matching lists of 35 validator keys.
In an announcement on October 28, the Foundation welcomed Flare, citing its alignment with the XRP Ledger’s core values, its participation in governance, and its contributions to the broader ecosystem.
Servers that follow the Foundation’s Unique Node List will now count Flare’s validator when agreeing on new ledgers and when voting on protocol amendments.
Amendment votes are evaluated every 256 ledgers and require sustained support above 80 percent for two weeks before activation, so Flare’s inclusion gives it one independent vote in that process.
Flare has already been active in the XRP ecosystem through FXRP, its non-custodial representation of XRP that enables holders to access lending, vaults, and other DeFi applications on its network.
The validator addition does not come with new token rewards or an immediate product launch; it primarily expands Flare’s operational involvement in the ledger it builds around.
In a separate update the same day, the Foundation removed Anodos Finance from the recommended list after the project asked to be taken off. Anodos is sunsetting its XRPL validator by the end of October.
The Foundation thanked the departing team for its prior contributions and collaboration with the XRP ecosystem. The change does not alter the total number of recommended validators, which remains at 35.
A fresh comparison of the published XRPL validator payloads shows that the Foundation’s list (sequence 2026102701) and Ripple’s list (sequence 86) contain the same 35 validation public keys. Both include a manifest tied to the domain xrpl-verification.flare.network.
The alignment reduces the chance of differing recommendations between the two publishers, though individual server operators still control their own Unique Node Lists and are not required to adopt either recommendation.
Flare’s addition places a project that already offers XRP-linked DeFi services into a position where it helps validate ledgers and vote on upgrades.
The Foundation framed the decision around governance participation and ecosystem contribution rather than any new commercial arrangement.
