Euro-to-Dollar Stablecoin Swaps Go Live on Polygon Through Monerium and Frax

A new euro-to-dollar stablecoin liquidity pool on Polygon allows eligible users to exchange Monerium’s EURe for Frax’s frxUSD on Uniswap v3. The development gives payment and treasury applications a practical onchain route between a euro-denominated e-money token and a dollar-denominated stablecoin without first moving tokens to a different blockchain.

Polygon confirmed the launch in its October 1 announcement, naming Monerium, Frax and payment infrastructure provider Capa as the participants. The EURe/frxUSD pool is described as live, with a path for software developers to integrate conversion alongside account funding and payment flows.
It is a meaningful distinction that the pool is a foreign-exchange market, not a promise to exchange every euro for exactly one dollar. Prices should reflect the EUR/USD exchange rate, market liquidity and swap costs. A euro stablecoin normally seeks to maintain value relative to the euro, while a dollar stablecoin is denominated in US dollars.
How a bank deposit becomes an onchain currency swap
Under the structure described by Polygon, an eligible Monerium customer transfers euros through SEPA into a named euro IBAN. Monerium then issues EURe into the corresponding wallet. The holder can exchange EURe for frxUSD through the Uniswap v3 pool, after which the dollar-denominated asset may be transferred or used in a compatible application.
Monerium identifies EURe as a MiCA-compliant e-money token intended to be backed by safeguarded euro reserves and redeemable at par. Frax describes frxUSD as backed by cash-equivalent reserves, including tokenized US Treasury assets. The two tokens carry different issuer arrangements, redemption rules and counterparty risks.
Capa’s role is to help connect stablecoin liquidity with payment and foreign-exchange activity. That may support a business receiving euros while needing dollar exposure or enable a payment service to build currency conversion into its workflow.
The blockchain portion of the conversion can settle quickly on Polygon, but the traditional bank-funding step remains subject to SEPA processing windows and account eligibility. It would therefore be inaccurate to present the entire bank-to-bank transfer process as guaranteed instantaneous.
Liquidity and regulation decide whether this becomes useful
A live Uniswap pool is a necessary part of an onchain exchange market but not proof of deep liquidity. Large trades can experience price impact, and the swap fee may be material for smaller payments. Developers and treasury teams should compare executable quotes with available fiat exchange routes rather than assuming a blockchain swap is always cheaper.
Liquidity providers face their own risks, including changing relative prices, smart-contract exposure and the composition of assets held in the pool. Transaction reversals are also difficult once a token swap has finalized, making confirmation of token contracts and destinations important.
For European businesses, regulatory obligations do not disappear when a payment is routed through an onchain currency pair. Customers should review who issues each token, their redemption rights and the service provider’s obligations under MiCA or payment legislation. A compliant token’s status does not itself authorize every downstream exchange, custody or financial service.
This launch fits a broader trend of stablecoins becoming embedded in treasury operations rather than used only for crypto trading. The critical data will be real exchange volumes, spreads, use in commercial payments and a track record of reliable bank funding and redemption.
