Summary

  • Coinbase confirmed that an Amplitude security incident exposed limited customer contact information without compromising exchange systems or customer funds directly.
  • Affected customers face potential phishing risks as the exchange notifies users and regulatory authorities about the third-party security incident.
  • Three cryptocurrencies joined Coinbase listings, while Ampleforth Governance Token faces trading suspension across multiple platforms on November 23, 2026.

Coinbase has reassured customers that their funds remain secure following a security incident involving third-party analytics provider Amplitude. The cryptocurrency exchange clarified that customer contact information was exposed without any breach of its internal systems.

According to an X post from Coinbase Support, the incident affected a small subset of Coinbase customers and other Amplitude clients. Coinbase stressed that the security issue originated with its analytics vendor rather than Coinbase.

“Coinbase has not had a data breach,” the official support account stated.

The company also reported finding no evidence of unauthorized access to Coinbase systems or customer funds. Its clarification addressed concerns that the incident might have compromised accounts or trading infrastructure. Amplitude provides analytics services to businesses, including Coinbase, which handles customer information.

Coinbase Notifies Affected Customers Following Amplitude Incident

Coinbase confirmed that it was notifying affected customers and relevant regulatory agencies as legally required. The exchange did not disclose the exact number of customers involved.

It also provided no detailed breakdown of the contact information exposed. Its public statement instead emphasized the limited scope of the exposure and customer asset security.

Meanwhile, exposed contact details could help criminals craft phishing messages that imitate communications from exchange representatives. Such messages may direct recipients toward fraudulent websites or request sensitive account credentials.

Customers should avoid suspicious links, unsolicited requests for passwords, and demands for two-factor authentication codes. Accessing accounts through official channels can also reduce exposure to impersonation attempts.

Coinbase Announces Asset Listings and FORTH Trading Suspension

Separately, Coinbase recently listed Axis Robotics, Stable, and Ritual on its platform and mobile application. Supported customers can buy, sell, convert, send, receive, or store these digital assets.

The exchange also announced plans to suspend Ampleforth Governance Token trading on November 23, 2026, at 2 PM ET. This decision covers Coinbase Simple Trade, Advanced Trade, Coinbase Exchange, and Coinbase Prime.

Coinbase maintains that its systems remained secure during the Amplitude incident and that customer funds were unaffected. The exchange is proceeding with customer and regulatory notifications following the vendor-related exposure.
