What Is MVL

MVL is an acronym for Mass Vehicle Ledger and is an incentive-based mobility blockchain protocol hosted on the Ethereum blockchain.

MVL Founders

MVL is a mobility startup based in Singapore. It was founded by Kay Kyeongisik Woo in 2018 with the mission to create Singapore’s first Zero commission ride-hailing service leveraging the power of blockchain.

Woo earned a Master's degree in Statistics at Columbia University in New York and a BSC in Electrical Engineering from Seoul National University.

In a mission statement, he highlighted his perspective on blockchain and what he feels his MVL creation is all about:

"MVL’s role in the blockchain community has been simple and clear. We focus on solving real-world problems and connecting our solutions to the blockchain, which creates a basis of trust among all participants. The MVL team has raised over $20 million since its inception in 2019.

How Does MVL Work

The MVL ecosystem provides incentives to participants who save data on the blockchain. It offers high returns to motivate active data logging. Rewards are awarded in the form of MVL Points that can be converted into MVL tokens.

The MVL ecosystem has three major components which work together to power the ecosystem:

1. MVL Bridge
   MVL Bridge allows MVL tokens to be transferred to multiple chains.
   MVL Bridge currently supports switching between Ethereum-based MVL tokens (ERC20) and BNB-chain-based MVL tokens (BEP20).
2. MVL Treasury
   MVL Treasury is a funding pool designed for the MVL ecosystem's smooth running. Treasury's funds are used as incentive resources for MVL ecosystem participants, and the sources and expenditures of the funds are disclosed on-chain.
3. MVL Blockchain
   All MVL mobility services are developed based on the MVL Protocol. Data generated from mobility services also belongs to the MVL Protocol.

The MVL ecosystem is built by members who provide their data. All data, including the mileage, insurance, parts and the frame of vehicles, etc., are recorded and hosted on the MVL blockchain, built on Ethereum.
