Pepe Climbs 14% in a Week as Dogecoin Hits Its Lowest Price in 74 Days

Three Things to Know

  • Dogecoin's network is minting blocks more slowly than its one-per-minute target, trimming new coin supply.
  • Pepe trades above both key trend lines while Dogecoin and Shiba Inu sit below theirs.
  • Dogecoin's nearest support floor now decides whether the meme sector slide deepens.

Dogecoin miners are falling behind schedule. On-chain data shows the network has produced fewer blocks than its target for a month, which quietly slows the creation of new DOGE.

The supply relief has not helped the price. Dogecoin sits at a 74-day low, Shiba Inu keeps sliding, and Pepe has pulled away with a fresh weekly rally. Traders now want to know whether Pepe's strength can spread or whether Dogecoin's weakness drags the whole group lower.

Dogecoin Falls 84 Blocks Short of Its Daily Target

The Dogecoin network produced 1,356 blocks in the 24 hours to Oct 28, according to on-chain data. Its target is 1,440, one block per minute. That left the chain 84 blocks short, a gap of about 5.83%.

Blocks arrived roughly every 63.72 seconds instead of every 60. The slowdown is no one-day blip. Over 30 days, miners created 41,018 blocks against a target of 43,194. That left the chain about 5.04% short.

Each block pays a fixed 10,000 DOGE, so fewer blocks mean fewer new coins. The network minted about 13.56 million DOGE in that day, below the nominal 14.4 million. Over the month, that added up to 21.76 million fewer coins.

At the current pace, yearly dilution runs near 2.87% instead of the nominal 3.05%.

The cause lies in mining. Dogecoin is merge-mined with Litecoin, and its DigiShield system resets difficulty every block. Hash power ran near 3.11 PH/s for DOGE and 2.93 PH/s for LTC. Litecoin outpaced its own target, producing 638 blocks against 576.

For users, the gap means slightly slower transfers. For holders, it trims long-term supply growth without moving the price directly.

Slower Issuance Cannot Lift DOGE Off $0.073

Supply math has done little for the chart. Dogecoin traded near $0.076, its lowest price in 74 days. The token has lost about 18% in a month, including a 1% dip this week.

The slide has pushed DOGE below both key trend lines. The 50-day average sits near $0.083. The 200-day line is higher, around $0.090. With price under both, each average now works as a ceiling that sellers can lean on.

Momentum is weak but shows a first crack. RSI, a 0 to 100 gauge of momentum, reads 36. That leaves DOGE close to oversold territory without reaching it, so buyers have room to step in but no clear signal yet.

The MACD has turned higher. That is an early hint the selling pressure is fading. Still, trend strength readings show a real downtrend, and sellers lead it.

On the daily chart, the floor to watch is near $0.073. A close below it would open the way toward the next support around $0.068.

For any recovery, buyers first need to clear resistance near $0.081. Above that, the next hurdle sits around $0.088, just under the 200-day line. Until DOGE reclaims those levels, the slower issuance remains a footnote for traders.

SHIB Trails DOGE Without the Momentum Turn

Shiba Inu tells a similar story with one important difference. The token traded near $0.0000047, down about 19% over the past month. This week alone cost it another 4%, a steeper slide than Dogecoin's.

SHIB sits below both trend lines. Its 50-day average is near $0.0000051. The 200-day line sits around $0.0000055. Both now act as ceilings, and sellers control the trend.

RSI matches Dogecoin's reading at 36. That is weak, though still above oversold levels. The difference shows up in the MACD, which has not turned higher. Momentum is still pointing down, so SHIB has not shown the early turn that DOGE just flashed.

The daily chart shows a tight squeeze. Support sits near $0.0000045, while resistance waits just overhead around $0.0000048. A break lower would expose the next floor near $0.0000041. A push higher would face the next barrier around $0.0000050.

PEPE Rides Buyers Toward $0.0000057

Pepe stands apart from the other two. The token traded near $0.0000049 and gained about 14% over the past week. That jump accounts for its entire monthly gain, so the move is fresh.

Of the three coins, only PEPE trades above its key trend lines. Its 50-day average sits near $0.0000042. The 200-day line is lower, around $0.0000039. With price above both, those averages now act as floors under any pullback.

RSI reads 58. That shows buyers have the upper hand while the token stays well short of overheated levels. The MACD stays in positive territory, so momentum is still building.

The first support is close at hand near $0.0000046. A drop through it would point to the 50-day average as the next floor. Overhead, resistance near $0.0000057 is the only ceiling mapped. A clean break there would leave PEPE with little charted resistance above.

Which Way the Next 72 Hours Could Break

Both outcomes hinge on Dogecoin's nearest chart levels, with the other two coins as confirmation.

  • Bullish: DOGE closes above its first resistance while PEPE holds its nearby floor. That pairing would show buyers returning across meme coins and put DOGE's second hurdle in play. The case fails if DOGE loses its current support.
  • Bearish: DOGE breaks its support and slides toward the next floor, while SHIB drops through its own nearby support. A DOGE daily close above first resistance would cancel this view.

Meme Leadership Has Changed Hands

Pepe now leads the big meme coins, with buyers in charge and its trend lines beneath it. Dogecoin has to defend its floor before any talk of a rebound makes sense.

The risk is shared. Meme coins tend to move as a pack, and a broad crypto sell-off could wipe out Pepe's weekly gain within days.
