Bitcoin’s October 2026 Price Battle — Where Buyers and Sellers Could Take Control

Bitcoin’s October 2026 price battle has one clear front line. Price has been rejected at $87,400 three times since September.
Each time, it fell straight back into the same range. That range now runs from the low $80,000s up to $87,400. Neither side has broken it yet.
Why Does $87,400 Keep Holding?
Sellers turned price away near $87,250 to $87,400 on each attempt. Analysts treat a daily close above $87,400 as the breakout trigger, with $90,000 as the next big round number.
The yearly open sits just above, near $87,600 to $87,700. Demand has not helped the bulls.
Bitcoin ETF inflows collapsed 88% in early October, and daily spot ETF flows have been mixed since.
Where Can Buyers Step In?
Analysts point to $81,300 as the first support. It was a former range high and a heavy trading zone. Below it sit $80,000, then about $77,400.
Buyers still have some help, as Strategy added 250 BTC. The buy is small, but steady corporate demand still counts.
Reading the Monthly Chart
At 14:05 UTC on 14 October 2026, Bitcoin traded at $82,184.29. That is down 1.09%, or $902.86, on the monthly BTCUSD chart.

Price sits just above the $81,300 support and below upper wicks near $87,000. The RSI reads 52.56, slightly above its average of 51.16.
That is a neutral reading. Momentum is neither stretched nor weak. The chart shows a market waiting for a trigger.
What the CPI Shock Changes
The trigger may already be here. The September CPI report landed at 12:30 UTC on 14 October. Inflation rose to 3.7%, above the 3.6% forecast.
Core CPI hit 2.6%, against 2.5% expected. Bitcoin fell about $1,000 within minutes, from near $83,800.
That revived rate-hike fears, and Bitcoin was already defying two macro headwinds from the dollar and Treasury yields. PPI data is due on 15 October.
A hold above $81,300 would keep buyers in the game. A slide through $80,000 would hand sellers control. Until one side wins, the range rules.
