Sun is now described as PEPE’s largest individual holder, with a position that reportedly exceeds the token’s perpetual-futures open interest. That comparison is notable because it suggests one investor’s spot exposure may carry unusual weight relative to the leveraged market built around the asset.

Large holders are a familiar feature of smaller, highly speculative crypto assets, but PEPE’s reported concentration raises questions about liquidity and price sensitivity. A whale holding a sizeable share of supply can become a market signal in itself, particularly when traders are watching wallet activity for clues about potential buying or selling pressure.

That does not necessarily mean an immediate market move is coming. Still, the gap between a major holder’s position and futures open interest highlights the relatively thin structure that can form around fast-moving memecoins, where sentiment often matters more than conventional fundamentals.

Dogecoin, the sector’s most established name, has gained 10% as bullish momentum builds. Traders are now watching whether the move can extend toward $0.10, a level that could become more reachable if bearish positions are forced to close into rising prices.

A short squeeze would require sustained demand and enough leveraged bets against the token to create forced buying. The setup remains conditional, but the prospect has added to the renewed focus on derivatives activity after Dogecoin’s latest rally.

Memecoins continue to derive much of their value from community interest, online visibility and rapid changes in market mood rather than utility. New tokens launch constantly, and many fail to retain attention once early speculation fades.
