Tether has led a $15 million Series A investment in Mural, backing the fintech company’s expansion into stablecoin payments and AI-powered financial services. The financing round included North Island Ventures and existing investors, bringing Mural’s total funding to $28 million. Mural plans to expand internationally while strengthening its regulatory systems and payment infrastructure.
According to the company’s announcement, the investment will support financial services that allow artificial intelligence agents to execute authorized transactions. Mural provides businesses with infrastructure for managing accounts, payments, customer identities, and compliance requirements across different markets.
Its platform connects traditional banking systems with blockchain payment networks, allowing companies to offer financial products through a single integration.

Mural Records $2.1 Billion in Payments Across 128 Countries
Mural has processed $2.1 billion in payment volume across 128 countries since introducing its application programming interface in 2025. Additionally, its transaction volume during 2026 has reached nearly six times the amount recorded throughout 2025.
The company’s infrastructure allows users to hold dollars, stablecoins, and local currencies within unified financial accounts. Businesses can also establish transaction limits, approve specific counterparties, and require additional authorization for larger payments.
These controls extend to AI agents operating under instructions established by account holders and financial service providers. Mural CEO Sinclair Toffa expects automated agents to become significant participants in financial transactions alongside individuals and businesses.
Meanwhile, the company plans to strengthen systems that identify authorized transactions and establish accountability when automated payments encounter problems.
Tether Investment Supports Stablecoin Integration With Traditional Banking
Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino identified Mural’s enterprise software capabilities as a major reason behind the company’s investment. “What drew us to Mural was the team’s background building enterprise-grade software that connects existing systems to stablecoin rails,” Ardoino stated.
He emphasized that banking networks, payment infrastructure, and compliance systems remain essential as AI agents begin handling financial transactions. Research from McKinsey and Artemis Analytics estimated real-world stablecoin payments reached approximately $390 billion in 2025.
Business transactions represented approximately 60% of that activity, highlighting commercial demand for stablecoin-based payment infrastructure. Mural founders Sinclair Toffa and Chris Fernandes previously worked at Palantir, integrating enterprise systems for major corporate clients.
Their company now deploys engineers alongside customers to establish financial infrastructure across individual markets.
“We wanted people who know the market where they work and the intricacies of that market,” Deel payments executive Olek Shtanoprud stated.
Shtanoprud also praised Mural’s engineers for their local expertise, collaboration, and execution during the company’s operations in Colombia. Tether’s investment provides Mural with additional resources to expand stablecoin payment services and strengthen compliance infrastructure for automated transactions.
