Bitcoin Retail Deposits Surge as Whale Behavior Signals a Growing Market Divide

Bitcoin retail demand surges, but the data needs a careful read. CryptoQuant analyst Darkfost reports that retail deposits to Binance hit a six-month high as BTC holds $80K. Whales are doing the opposite. The gap between the two crowds is unusually wide.

What Did Darkfost Find?
Retail deposits to Binance, measured over 30 days, rose from $5.5B in April to $10.75B.
That is nearly double. Deposits are coins sent to an exchange, not coins bought. Darkfost reads them as retail investors using the rebound above $80K as an exit window.
Retail deposits now run 2.8 times whale deposits. Retail traders also react faster to price moves, as Binance’s founder told the market not to panic after an earlier crash.
Why Are Whales Staying Out?
Whale deposits to Binance fell 36% since late August, from $5.9B to $3.8B. The decline has run for about two months. Whales show no signs of large-scale distribution.
That patience matters. If prices keep rising and whale deposits stay low, retail could be the main source of selling on Binance. Whale behavior can shift fast, though.
Even steady holders may change course if a macro shock hits. Bitcoin showed that earlier, when it defended $62K after a brutal sell-off.
Bitcoin Holds the $80K Line
At about 09:05 UTC on 26 October 2026, Bitcoin traded at $80,151.17. That is down 3.1% over seven days. The seven-day chart opens near $82,700 on 20 October.
Price spiked to about $83,200 on 21 October and peaked near $84,800 on 22 October. A slide followed. Bitcoin fell to about $81,200 on 23 October and tested $79,700 over the weekend.

A dip under $80K came early on 26 October before a rebound. Price now sits right at the average treasury cost basis near $80,200.
The CryptoQuant chart shows the divide clearly. The retail line climbs steadily while the whale line fades after its September peak.
What Could Narrow the Gap?
Two dates matter. The Fed decides on 28 October, and options expire on 30 October.
A shock could change whale behavior, and Kiyosaki’s warning against ETFs reminds retail traders that sentiment can flip. Retail has sent its signal. Whales have stayed quiet. Their silence may not last.
