AERO Crypto News: What Happens When Two Major DEXs Become One?

Aerodrome and Velodrome have merged into Aero, a spot exchange now live across seven blockchain networks. According to The Block report, the launch covers Ethereum mainnet, Base, Robinhood Chain, Ink, OP Mainnet, Arc and Arbitrum.

The project set go-live for October 21 at 8:00 PM EDT, which was October 22 at 00:00 UTC. It is the main item in today’s AERO Crypto News.

Dromos Labs develops Aero. Its CEO, Alex Cutler, said markets are moving onchain and that all revenue earned goes back to AERO stakers.

Which Seven Chains Did Aero Pick, and Why Do They Matter?

Base, Ethereum mainnet, OP Mainnet, Arc and Ink were already on the list. Robinhood Chain and Arbitrum joined in the team’s launch update from September 25, which called the list final.

AERO Seven Chains

The team says the chains Aerodrome and Velodrome serve today account for about 17% of EVM spot volume. It expects the launch to roughly triple that reach. These are project claims, not confirmed results.

The seven networks handle about $120 billion in monthly DEX trading, per the project. Aerodrome held 58% of Base DEX volume in the third quarter. Velodrome held 60% on OP Mainnet.

What Happens to AERO and VELO Tokens?

Existing AERO and VELO tokens upgrade to a new $AERO token. The locked positions, veAERO and veVELO, convert to sAERO, or staked AERO. One AERO becomes one AERO. One VELO becomes 0.044 AERO, based on projected supplies.

The new supply splits 94.5% to Aerodrome holders and 5.5% to Velodrome holders. That matches each protocol’s revenue share over the 52 weeks before the announcement. Maximum supply is expected near 2.127 billion $AERO, up from about 2 billion.

Nothing converts automatically. The Aero Upgrade Hub says holders must use the upgrade portals, and the move cannot be reversed. Emissions on the old protocols ended at launch, so earning new rewards requires an upgrade.

How Will Aero Pay Liquidity Providers and Stakers?

The headline feature is Predictive Allocation. sAERO holders direct liquidity rewards toward markets they expect to earn revenue, then receive a share of that revenue. The team says this rewards early, correct calls.

Aero also adds Metaswaps for cross-chain trades and Slipstream V3, which raises fees when markets move fast. Per the official launch post, rewards are now priced in dollars and capped against projected revenue.

The project says it launched with no venture backing and no token sale. The full new supply goes to existing holders.

Is the Aero Launch Safe? Audits, Inflation and Market Reaction

The security side of this AERO Update is clear on paper. Aero says Sherlock and ChainSecurity audited its contracts across five engagements, followed by a three-week public contest. A Sherlock bug bounty was set to open on launch day. Audits lower risk but do not remove it.

The project expects realized inflation near 12% a year, with a 20% ceiling at launch. AERO news today also includes market data: The Block’s tracker showed AERO down 7.81% on its report page. Trading data can change quickly.

Expert Take: What Could Shape AERO Crypto News Next?

The data suggests this AERO news is a consolidation of two market leaders, not a new entrant. The key numbers are upgrade completion, pool depth and volume across all seven chains.

The main uncertainty in this AERO Crypto News story is whether Predictive Allocation works at scale. Some old pools have no matching pool on Aero at launch, so manual rebuilds could slow early liquidity.

AERO latest news will likely center on volume and staker revenue, while daily crypto news today roundups track how DEX activity reacts to broader crypto latest news.

Conclusion

Aerodrome and Velodrome are now Aero, with one token, one exchange and seven chains. The launch details come from the project and are reported by The Block.

Volume and market share targets remain project claims. This AERO Crypto News story will keep developing as token upgrades and pool migrations progress.
