Grayscale’s HYPE Accumulation Raises a Key Question as Rival Outflows Accelerate

Grayscale’s HYPE accumulation raises a key question. Why is one fund buying while a rival sells?
Grayscale’s HYPG made net purchases of $7.8M worth of HYPE over the past 20 days. Over the same window, the 21Shares fund, THYP, lost $20.9M.
What Did HYPG Do?
HYPG is the Grayscale Hyperliquid Staking ETF. It began trading on 3 June 2026 and held about $127.1M in net assets by 30 June, its SEC filing shows.
The fund recorded inflows on only 3 of the 20 days, so the buying came in bursts. HYPG pairs exposure with staking, but staking APY is not your real return once fees and slashing risk count.
Is HYPG Immune to Outflows?
No. HYPG lost $1.73M on 14 October and $869,980 on 15 October. All three HYPE ETFs combined lost $4.95M on 14 October.
They lost $10.28M on 15 October, a second straight outflow day. THYP led that day with $7.10M. The 20-day total is positive, but the latest days are not.
Costs can also shape choices between funds, as ETF premiums and discounts show. Fund demand is cooling elsewhere too, since Bitcoin ETF inflows collapsed 88% in early October.
HYPE Slips Near $79
At about 11:25 UTC on 19 October 2026, HYPE traded at $79.02. That is down 8.0% over seven days. The BTC pair stood at 0.00096119. The seven-day chart opens near $85.70 on 13 October.

Price fell to about $80.20 that day, then rebounded to $83.20. HYPE slid to about $78.30 on 15 October. A spike to $82.30 followed on 16 October.
Sellers took control again on 17 October. Price dropped to about $76.40 early on 19 October, then recovered to $80.30 before easing back.
What Would Confirm a Trend?
Three inflow days in 20 do not make a trend. A longer run of inflows would show conviction. More outflows from HYPG would show that the divergence was brief.
Grayscale is buying into weakness while others sell. The next ETF flow reports will show who is right.
