Paxos Adds XRP: Now Biggest Partners Decide Who Buys

The distinction matters. Paxos supplies crypto trading and custody services to other companies; those partners decide which assets to offer. Stevenson’s central claim is that supporting XRP at the infrastructure level lowers the technical barrier to future listings, rather than announcing those listings itself.
Stevenson describes Paxos as the “engine under the hood” of consumer-facing financial services. She points to Schwab’s crypto offering, which she says launched with Bitcoin and Ethereum, to illustrate why a provider’s supported assets and a brokerage’s available assets are not the same thing.
Her most useful test for investors is straightforward: “Who can buy it now that couldn’t buy it yesterday?” For this announcement, the answer remains conditional. Customers gain access only when a partner enables XRP.
The video names no confirmed rollout dates for PayPal, Venmo or Schwab. Nor does infrastructure support establish how much demand any eventual launch would generate.
The development contrasts with the retreat that followed the SEC’s December 2020 lawsuit against Ripple. Coinbase suspended XRP trading in January 2021, then restored it after the July 2023 court ruling.
That ruling requires precision: the court found Ripple’s programmatic XRP sales on exchanges were not investment contracts under the circumstances examined. It was not a blanket ruling that every XRP transaction falls outside securities law.
Dr. Stevenson also cites roughly $1.8 billion flowing into spot XRP ETFs since their claimed November 2025 launch, presenting that figure as evidence of demand through conventional investment accounts.
The next meaningful development is a confirmed customer launch, not another infrastructure announcement. Wider distribution could make XRP easier to buy through familiar accounts, but it would not by itself demonstrate payment adoption, sustained buying or higher prices. Access is the opportunity here; actual usage remains the test.
