ICE and Trade[XYZ] Sign a Definitive Deal for a US Perps Market

Crypto derivatives are heading to Wall Street, as Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), the owner of the New York Stock Exchange, announced a definitive agreement with Trade[XYZ] on October 29, 2026. The two firms plan to bring Hyperliquid perpetual futures onshore in the United States, subject to regulatory approvals.

ICE will be the exclusive operator of the regulated markets and is also making a strategic investment in Trade[XYZ]. The terms were not disclosed, and the stake is not expected to materially affect ICE’s 2026 adjusted financials.

Trade[XYZ] is a leading deployer of real world asset (RWA) perpetual markets on Hyperliquid.

According to the company, its markets have passed $650 billion in trading volume in just over a year. They also show prices for traditional assets when regular exchanges are closed.

The Block also flagged it on X. The exchange group then confirmed the details in an official press release.

Key points from the announcement:

  • The exchange group becomes the exclusive operator of the regulated markets.

  • The new retail line runs separately from its institutional business.

  • Existing offshore Trade[XYZ] markets stay unchanged.

  • Every step depends on regulatory approvals.

Who Does What: ICE, Trade[XYZ], and Hyperliquid Roles Explained

The platform outlined the structure in a post on X, and the split is simple.

Operates the regulated market and clearing structure

Hyperliquid acts as a neutral on-chain layer. Deployers like Trade[XYZ] keep control of their markets. They also keep responsibility for them. HIP-3* is an adapted form of the HIP-3 system, which lets builders deploy markets without permission.

If approvals arrive, this puts on-chain derivatives technology behind a regulated US operator.

What the Hyperliquid Perpetual Futures Venue Will Offer

The venue targets retail traders who want short-duration, around-the-clock exposure. Planned contracts cover:

  • Equities

  • Equity indices

  • Commodities

  • Foreign exchange (FX)

  • Crypto

  • Other real-world assets

Perpetual contracts, or perps, are leveraged derivatives with no expiry date. A funding rate keeps their price close to the underlying asset, and trading can continue when traditional markets are closed.

Until now, such perps were largely limited to offshore venues. A KYC/AML framework would open that access to US users. Access is expected through brokers, platforms, and futures commission merchants (FCMs), including ICE’s joint venture with OKX.

ICE says the retail business will stay apart from its institutional futures and clearing franchise, which serves commercial hedgers. The split keeps institutional customers away from retail trading risk.

CEO Jeffrey Sprecher called the perps “additive to our futures markets, not a replacement for them.”

CFTC Approvals Are Pending and No Launch Date Is Set

The companies need sign-off from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). The approvals cover:

  • Leveraged trading

  • A new, dedicated market and clearing structure

  • A know-your-customer and anti-money-laundering (KYC/AML) compliant framework

No launch timeline, product list, or eligibility rules have been announced. More details are expected as approvals progress. For now, the Hyperliquid perpetual futures plan remains a proposal.

Earlier in 2026, a CFTC staff advisory and no-action relief tied to perps had already cleared a path for regulated US perps. Any further regulatory update will follow that approval process.

HYPE Gains About 15% as the Crypto News Spreads

Hyperliquid’s native token, HYPE, rose roughly 13% to 17% after the announcement, depending on the snapshot. Some reports noted peaks near or above $90 to $97 as volume spiked.

These figures come from reports on October 29 and 30, 2026, so check live data on CoinMarketCap.

The jump reflects positive sentiment around a major exchange operator building on decentralized exchange technology. It does not guarantee a launch. Price moves like this can reverse. Leveraged products also carry high risk, and eligibility rules are not yet public.

In short, ICE holds the operator role, Trade[XYZ] designs the contracts, and Hyperliquid supplies the technology. Whether Hyperliquid perpetual futures reach US retail traders now depends on CFTC approval.
