Any Bitcoin price prediction 2026 has to start from an uncomfortable fact: BTC trades around $80,600 in late October, roughly 36% below its October 2025 all-time high and down about 28% over the past year. With about two months left in the year, early-2026 targets of $150,000 or more would now need a very large rally. Bearish analysts such as Benjamin Cowen are watching the $72,000 to $76,000 zone.

Key Takeaways

  • As of October 29, 2026 (01:36 UTC), BTC traded at $80,628 with a market cap of about $1.62 trillion.
  • Standard Chartered has cut its year-end 2026 target to $100,000, down from $150,000 in February.
  • Fed policy, ETF flows and stalled US legislation look like the main swing factors into 2027.

Price history and key levels

CoinGecko lists Bitcoin’s all-time low at $67.81 and its peak at $126,080 on October 6, 2025. OKX records a slightly different high of $126,200 on October 7, 2025, a normal gap between data providers.

Fortune’s daily price tracker put BTC at $81,359.62 at 7 a.m. ET on October 28, 2026. That was down 27.94% from $112,915.53 a year earlier and down 3.28% from a month before. OKX, by contrast, showed a 30.21% three-month gain.

Cowen’s line in the sand is $83,000. He treated two weekly closes below it as bearish confirmation. BeInCrypto reported a close of $82,042 the prior week and $80,154 on October 25. His next target is the bull market support band, the 20- and 21-week moving averages near $72,000 to $76,000. For the upside view, see our Bitcoin price outlook around the $85,000 level.

Drivers and catalysts

ETF flows and new products

Citing SoSoValue data via TokenPost, ad-hoc-news reported net outflows of $635.49 million from US spot Bitcoin ETFs on October 22, 2026. That came three days after $526.6 million of net inflows, with total net assets at $104.71 billion. We’ve covered how ETF outflows have pressured BTC before.

Outside the US, Switzerland’s FINMA has approved its first Swiss-law retail ETF that invests directly in Bitcoin, according to NewsBTC. The regulator announced the approval on October 20 and classified the fund as an alternative-investment product carrying specific risk. Its market impact is still unproven.

US regulation

Since March 2026, the SEC has listed Bitcoin as a digital commodity. The CLARITY Act, however, failed a Senate procedural vote 49 to 50 on September 15. Cryptoticker notes that the bill expires if Congress does not pass it by January 3, 2027. The November 3 midterms and the lame-duck session that follows are the next milestones.

Risks to the outlook

Macro is the biggest risk. After the Fed’s hawkish October 28 hold, traders priced in a 78% chance of a December hike, Cointelegraph reported. Analysts cited by the outlet say Treasury yields, the US dollar and upcoming inflation data could determine Bitcoin’s next move.

Cowen’s bearish analogy is silver, which crashed 73% in four years after its 2011 peak despite rallies that looked like a recovery. That’s an analogy, not a forecast. Counterparty risk matters too: Decrypt reported that Datavault AI hasn’t been able to withdraw its Bitcoin from Biconomy since June. Our report on crypto exchange closures in 2026 covers that theme. Bitcoin remains highly volatile, and losses can be severe.

Bitcoin price prediction 2026 and 2027 scenarios

Period Bearish Base Bullish
End of 2026 $64,000 – $76,000 $80,000 – $90,000 $96,000 – $100,000
End of 2027 $60,000 – $75,000 $85,000 – $120,000 $125,000 – $150,000

Bearish: This assumes BTC loses the $72,000 to $76,000 band, for example after a December hike. The low end reflects CoinCodex’s August 2026 model floor of $63,756. A drawn-out 2027 slide would fit Cowen’s silver analogy.

Base: This assumes price chops near current levels. LongForecast projects a 2026 close of $89,973, and CoinCodex tops out at $87,417. LongForecast’s end-October projection of $72,081 sits well below the current price, a reminder that such models can miss by a wide margin. For 2027, the range assumes mixed ETF flows and gradual regulatory progress.

Bullish: This assumes a December relief rally toward LongForecast’s possible high of $96,271 or Standard Chartered’s $100,000 target, as cited by CryptoNews. Bernstein’s $125,000 end-2026 figure would need a gain of about 55% in two months, so we treat it as an outlier. Bernstein has also discussed $150,000 by mid-2027, which caps our 2027 range.

Methodology and assumptions

These ranges are our own scenario estimates, built from technical levels, model outputs and dated analyst targets. They aren’t investment advice or a recommendation to buy, sell or hold. CNBC’s January 2026 roundup found forecasts ranging from $75,000 to $225,000. Standard Chartered cut its target from $300,000 to $150,000, then to $100,000. We weighted current price action more heavily than early-year optimism.

Bitcoin price prediction FAQ

What is the Bitcoin price prediction 2026 for year-end?

Published figures vary widely, from CoinCodex’s August range of $63,756 to $87,417 up to Bernstein’s $125,000. Our base case is $80,000 to $90,000, a scenario rather than a promise.

Can Bitcoin reach a new all-time high in 2026?

It would need a rise of more than 56% from $80,628 in about two months. Standard Chartered’s $100,000 and Bernstein’s $125,000 end-2026 figures both sit below the record. Axi’s summary from roughly two months ago, though, put the top of the 2026 consensus range at $250,000.

What do analysts expect for Bitcoin in 2027?

Bernstein has discussed $150,000 by mid-2027, while Bitwise’s Matt Hougan is listed near $240,000, per Axi. Bearish voices such as Cowen warn of a longer decline.

Why do Bitcoin forecasts change so often?

They depend on rates, ETF flows and regulation, all of which can shift quickly. Treat any target as a dated estimate, not a promise.
