Summary

  • Evernorth reveals that only $39 billion of $400 billion in tokenized assets supports trading, settlement, or collateral activities across blockchains.
  • Regulated investment funds account for approximately 90% of tokenized value on the XRP Ledger, reflecting growing institutional blockchain adoption.
  • Stablecoin and fiat-token trading on XRPL reached 86% in 2026, strengthening infrastructure for potential institutional settlement and tokenized asset transactions

Evernorth has revealed the XRP Ledger’s expanding role in tokenized finance as billions of dollars in blockchain assets remain difficult to trade. According to Evernorth’s October 27 report, approximately $400 billion in real-world assets exist across blockchain networks, but only $39 billion supports on-chain transactions.

The findings highlight a substantial gap between recording asset ownership and enabling trading, settlement, or collateral activities. Evernorth’s Tokenization Report 2026 examines how XRPL’s infrastructure could help address these limitations within institutional financial markets.

XRP Ledger Holds Significant Share of Tokenized Assets in Regulated Funds

Evernorth revealed that regulated investment funds account for approximately 90% of tokenized value recorded on the XRP Ledger. These products primarily serve qualified investors, with financial institutions using blockchain technology to maintain ownership records.

According to Evernorth, this structure reflects the initial stages of institutional tokenization before broader trading capabilities emerge. Meanwhile, approximately $361 billion in tokenized assets across blockchain networks lacks direct trading, settlement, or collateral functionality. The report identifies this limitation as a significant challenge for institutions seeking greater utility from blockchain-based financial products.

Stablecoin Trading on XRP Ledger Surges to 86% in 2026

Evernorth also reported substantial growth in stablecoin and fiat-token trading across the XRP Ledger’s decentralized exchange. In 2024, approximately 10% of XRP trading on the exchange settled against stablecoins or fiat-denominated tokens.

About $400B of real-world assets are on-chain. $39B can be traded, settled, or pledged where they're recorded. The rest is a register.

That proportion increased to an average of 50% during 2025, reflecting growing use of digital currency settlement pairs. According to Evernorth, the figure reached 86% in 2026, demonstrating a considerable change in XRPL’s trading composition.

XRP Ledger Expands Infrastructure for Tokenized Asset Trading

The growing presence of stablecoin trading pairs provides infrastructure that could support transactions involving tokenized investment products. Evernorth explained that tokenized fund shares require accessible markets where investors can exchange assets against digital representations of conventional currencies.

XRPL already supports these transactions through its decentralized exchange, creating potential opportunities for broader institutional settlement activities. Additionally, the report distinguishes between existing trading infrastructure and actual liquidity available for tokenized financial instruments.

Evernorth’s findings highlight XRPL’s developing role in connecting tokenized asset ownership with functional blockchain markets. The increase in stablecoin trading demonstrates growing settlement activity, while broader tokenized asset liquidity remains limited.
