Cardano DEX Volume Jumps 143% in a Week as DeFi TVL Rebounds

Cardano’s DeFi market is showing a burst of activity that is much stronger than its price chart alone would suggest.

Fresh DefiLlama data shows decentralized exchange volume on Cardano reached roughly $41.9 million over seven days, an increase of about 143% from the previous week.

Daily DEX volume is running near $4 million, while total value locked has climbed above $71 million. The move is notable because Cardano’s DeFi ecosystem has spent much of 2026 operating at relatively low volume compared with larger smart-contract networks.

Trading activity is rising faster than locked capital

The ratio between volume growth and TVL is the key signal.

Cardano TVL increased only modestly relative to the 143% jump in weekly DEX volume. That means the same pool of liquidity is turning over much faster rather than simply sitting idle in protocols.

DefiLlama also shows roughly 21,500 active addresses and close to 34,000 daily transactions in its latest network snapshot.

Stablecoin liquidity is hovering around $67 million, with USDC representing roughly 69% of the network’s stablecoin market. Earlier in the week, the stablecoin balance had shown a double-digit weekly increase, helping provide more usable dollar liquidity for decentralized trading.

The pattern matters because DeFi ecosystems need both capital and velocity. TVL measures how much value is deposited. DEX volume measures how much that value is actually being used for trading.

Cardano is still small — but the rate of change is large

In absolute terms, Cardano remains far behind Ethereum, Solana and several Layer 2 networks in DeFi liquidity and exchange volume.

That is why the percentage increase should not be mistaken for Cardano suddenly becoming a top DEX chain. A 143% increase from a small base is easier to achieve than the same move on a network already processing billions of dollars per day.

Still, changes at the margin can matter for ADA because Cardano has historically struggled to convert its large token market capitalization into equally large on-chain financial activity.

DefiLlama currently shows Cardano’s market capitalization around $10 billion, compared with roughly $71 million in DeFi TVL. That gap remains enormous.

If weekly DEX volume stays above $40 million and TVL continues climbing, the network would begin to show a more convincing improvement in actual usage rather than short-lived speculative bursts.

The next test is persistence. One strong week is data. Several consecutive strong weeks would begin to look like a trend.
