XRP fell to $1.20 on Friday morning, equivalent to €1.07. That is 8.3 percent lower than 24 hours earlier and the weakest level since August 20. The decline was set off by a sell-off on Wall Street that spread to the entire crypto market overnight; there was no comparable event at Ripple or on the XRP Ledger. Two factors leave XRP more exposed than other large coins: the US exchange-traded XRP funds have not attracted fresh money for three trading days, and most accounts in the derivatives market are still betting on rising prices.

The price data in this article comes from CoinGecko and reflects the position on Friday at around 6:50 a.m. German time. The derivatives figures are based on our own analysis, whose basis is described further below.

XRP price at $1.20: Lowest level since August 20

Over 24 hours, XRP traded between $1.33 and $1.20. The daily low was therefore practically the current price; no rebound had begun by the morning. With a market capitalisation of $76.1 billion, XRP remains the fifth-largest cryptocurrency, and trading volume stood at $2.37 billion.

Longer time frames show that Friday extends a downtrend. XRP has lost 18.1 percent over 30 days and 49.3 percent over twelve months. The price is now 67 percent below the all-time high of $3.65, reached on July 17, 2025. The last time XRP traded this low was in mid-August: from August 16 to 20, daily values were at $1.20 or below, with $0.99 on August 17. That was the lowest daily value of the past twelve months.

The 200-day line matters for putting this into context. It is the average of closing prices over the past 200 days, and many market participants read it as the boundary between an intact and a broken uptrend. For XRP, the line currently sits at $1.27. On Thursday the price was still above it; now it trades a good five percent below.

Wall Street sell-off: Nasdaq and chip stocks drag the XRP price down

The trigger came from the stock markets. According to Fox Business, the Nasdaq Composite closed 5.52 percent lower on Thursday at 24,315 points, slipping into a correction, meaning more than ten percent below its record close of October 6. The S&P 500 fell 4.36 percent to 7,353.73 points, and the Dow Jones lost 1,833 points, or 3.44 percent. The Philadelphia Stock Exchange's semiconductor index slumped by more than twelve percent.

The report cites the Democrats' gains in the US midterm elections as the reason. Investors fear stricter rules for artificial intelligence and for building new data centres, particularly as rising electricity prices have turned data centres into a political issue. Jakub Rochlitz, an analyst at the broker eToro, told the network that markets were now pricing in the election result.

Cryptocurrencies reacted like high-risk technology stocks. Bitcoin lost 5.9 percent in 24 hours, Ether 8.1 percent. Among the 25 largest coins, hardly any apart from the stablecoins gained. When funds and traders reduce risk, they first sell what can be sold quickly and in large volumes, and that includes the major cryptocurrencies.

The XRP slump did not start in the crypto market but with the sell-off in chip stocks on Wall Street.

XRP price against Bitcoin: The gap has widened for 30 days

XRP is also falling relative to Bitcoin. Measured in BTC, XRP lost 2.3 percent over the past 24 hours, 1.1 percent over seven days and 8.8 percent over 30 days. In falling phases, XRP is currently giving up more ground than the market leader. cryptoticker.io had already described the ratio to Bitcoin as the decisive variable in an XRP price prediction on November 4; since then it has moved further against XRP.

For holders, this difference is more than an arithmetic figure. Anyone who swaps XRP for Bitcoin or weights both in a portfolio has seen for a month that XRP falls harder in downturns and does not make up the shortfall in brief recoveries.

XRP ETFs in the US: Three trading days without inflows

One reason for the weakness lies with the spot ETFs. These are exchange-traded funds that actually buy and hold XRP rather than merely betting on the price. Inflows into these funds represent real demand in the spot market. According to TokenPost, citing the data service SoSoValue, the XRP spot ETFs recorded no net inflows on three consecutive trading days up to and including November 5. Since launch they have collected $1.81 billion in net terms, and assets under management amount to $1.41 billion, or 1.85 percent of XRP's market capitalisation.

XRP is not entirely alone in this. The Solana ETFs lost $1.18 million on the same day, and only the HBAR funds booked a small inflow of $278,241. For XRP the standstill carries weight because the funds have taken in $1.81 billion net since their launch and were therefore an important buyer. As long as no money comes from that side, a buyer is missing that could absorb sales in the spot market.

Investors in Germany generally cannot buy the US spot ETFs directly because they lack the key information document required under EU law. In Germany, XRP is instead available in the form of ETNs and ETPs traded on German exchanges. The overview of crypto ETFs and ETNs in Germany shows which products exist and how they differ.

No new money has flowed into the XRP spot ETFs for three trading days, so an important buyer in the spot market is missing.

XRP futures on OKX: Four long accounts for every short account

The derivatives market paints a striking picture. cryptoticker.io compiled this analysis itself on November 6, 2026. It is based on the freely available market data from the OKX exchange on XRP futures contracts: hourly open interest, the last 21 funding rates and the ratio of long to short accounts over 30 days, plus 365 daily prices from CoinGecko for the moving averages.

Open interest, the value of all futures positions not yet closed, fell at OKX from $128.9 million on Thursday at midday to $117.4 million on Friday morning, a decline of 8.9 percent. Some positions were therefore closed, voluntarily or through forced liquidation. At the same time, the ratio of accounts with long positions to accounts with short positions rose from 2.87 on Thursday morning to 4.12 at midnight. On Friday morning it stood at 3.91. For every account betting on falling prices, there were almost four betting on rising prices. Over the past 30 days, the figure ranged between 2.71 and 4.37.

The numbers show two things at once: positions are being closed overall, and among the remaining accounts a growing majority is betting on a recovery, often with leverage. If the price keeps falling, these long positions reach their liquidation threshold. The exchange then closes them automatically, and the forced sales push the price down further. A large surplus of long accounts therefore becomes a risk of further downward bursts in a falling market.

The funding rate fits this picture. It is the payment that the long side makes to the short side on perpetual contracts when it is in the majority. From Tuesday afternoon to Thursday afternoon it stood at 0.01 percent per eight-hour period at OKX six times in a row, and most recently at only 0.0024 percent. At the end of October it was still negative, when the short side was paying.

XRP price since November 4: The 200-day line did not hold

In the XRP price prediction of November 4, the price stood at $1.30. As the downside level, the article named the 200-day line at $1.27, then $1.24 as the consequence of a daily close below it, and after that the zone around one dollar. Two of these three steps have now been reached: XRP fell below $1.27, broke through $1.24 and, at $1.20, stands almost eight percent below the price at that time.

Two things are new since then. First, the pressure came from outside, through the slump on the Nasdaq, and not from the XRP ecosystem itself. Second, the picture in the derivatives market has turned: back then the funding rate had only just switched to positive, whereas now a clear majority of accounts is on the long side while open interest declines.

XRP price levels: $1.20, $0.99 and the moving averages

On the downside, the first level is the current area around $1.20, where several daily values sat in August. Below that is the twelve-month low of $0.99 from August 17, which also covers the round one-dollar mark. A daily close below $1.20 would open the way into this zone, almost 18 percent below the current price.

On the upside, three moving averages sit close together: the 200-day line at $1.27, the 100-day line at $1.31 and the 50-day line at $1.38. Only a daily close above $1.27 would reverse Friday's break. The last interim high was $1.57 on September 23.

LevelPriceDistance from the $1.20 price

50-day line$1.38plus 15 percent
100-day line$1.31plus 9 percent
200-day line$1.27plus 6 percent
Twelve-month low, August 17$0.99minus 18 percent

A moving average is no guarantee. The line only shows where the price stood on average over recent weeks and months and where many market participants place their orders. If you use levels for orientation, you should read them together with the situation on Wall Street, because that is where Thursday's real trigger lay.

Buying XRP in Germany: MiCA exchanges, holding period and leverage

If you are thinking about buying after the decline, first settle how you will buy. Since the EU's MiCA regulation took effect, crypto exchanges in the EU need authorisation to serve customers in Germany. The register of the European Securities and Markets Authority, ESMA, lists which providers hold it. You can find a selection of vetted platforms with fees and deposit methods in the comparison of the best crypto exchanges, and authorised providers are also summarised in the overview of regulated crypto exchanges.

For tax purposes in Germany, the holding period under Section 23 of the Income Tax Act applies. If you sell XRP at a profit within one year of buying it, the gain is taxable, provided all private disposal gains in the year together reach €1,000. After more than one year, the sale is tax-free. Losses from a sale within the period can be offset against gains from such transactions. If you sell at a loss now, you should therefore document it.

Trading with leverage calls for particular caution. With perpetual contracts, a position is closed automatically as soon as the collateral is used up; at tenfold leverage, a counter-move of less than ten percent is enough, which is less than this single day's decline. The OKX data shows that many accounts are currently making exactly this bet.

For storage, the usual rule applies: coins you want to hold for longer are safer in your own wallet than in an exchange account. There is no staking yield for XRP as there is for Ether or Solana, because the XRP Ledger has no staking; interest offers for XRP always come from platforms that lend out the coins.

XRP below $1.27: Without ETF inflows, $0.99 stays in view

On Friday, XRP lost its 200-day line and is at its lowest level since August. The trigger lay on Wall Street, and it is amplified by missing ETF inflows and a surplus of long accounts in the derivatives market. Three steps help you put your own position in order:

  1. Check how you buy: If you want to buy more, use an exchange with MiCA authorisation and compare fees and spreads beforehand in the exchange comparison.
  2. Limit leverage: If you trade perpetuals, calculate the liquidation threshold before you enter. The comparison of perp DEXs shows the differences in fees and collateral.
  3. Document purchase dates and losses: Every single purchase counts for the holding period and for offsetting losses. A crypto tax tool records the data automatically.
