Cross River will integrate RLUSD payments into its existing financial services, enabling dollar conversions, cross-border payments, and treasury transfers through one API connection.
Additionally, businesses can access automated clearing house (ACH) transfers, wire payments, and real-time payment services through the same platform. This arrangement will connect traditional banking services with blockchain transactions while reducing dependence on multiple payment providers.
Adam Goller, Head of Fintech Banking at Cross River, emphasized the importance of simplifying international payments for businesses.
“Businesses shouldn’t have to rely on several different providers to move money across the globe. Our partnership with Ripple eliminates that complexity and makes payments simpler,” Goller stated.
The integration will also give payment issuers and acquirers greater flexibility when settling transactions throughout the banking day. By introducing RLUSD as an additional payment rail, Cross River aims to reduce settlement delays across supported payment networks.
XRP Ledger’s Fast Settlement Supports Ripple’s Growing Institutional Stablecoin Adoption
The partnership will use the XRP Ledger to process RLUSD transactions within Cross River’s regulated banking infrastructure. XRPL typically settles transactions within three to five seconds, with network fees costing fractions of a cent.
Ripple reported that the blockchain has processed more than $1.3 trillion in settlement value. Its round-the-clock transaction capabilities will support stablecoin transfers alongside conventional banking services.
Markus Infanger, Senior Vice President of RippleX, emphasized the importance of integrating stablecoins into existing banking systems.
“Stablecoins won’t transform payments through parallel financial systems. They’ll do it by becoming part of the banking infrastructure businesses already use,” Infanger stated.
Meanwhile, RLUSD has reached a market capitalization exceeding $2.5 billion, according to figures included in the partnership announcement. More than $1 billion worth of the stablecoin has been issued on the XRP Ledger.
The stablecoin supports institutional payments, trading activities, and other financial transactions involving dollar-denominated digital assets. Its integration into Cross River’s platform will extend these capabilities to fintech companies using the bank’s infrastructure.
Cross River already provides embedded banking technology connecting financial technology companies with regulated financial services. Adding RLUSD will expand its payment infrastructure while allowing customers to access blockchain settlement through existing banking connections.
Conclusion
The Ripple and Cross River partnership brings RLUSD settlement capabilities into regulated US banking infrastructure through the XRP Ledger. Fintech companies will gain access to stablecoin payments, dollar conversions, and traditional banking services through one platform. The agreement expands RLUSD’s institutional payment applications while giving Cross River customers another option for processing domestic and international transactions.
