Who Licenses Your Casino? 4 Public Registers to Bookmark

Licence badges in a casino footer are images, and images copy easily. The regulator's own register holds the real record: the company behind the brand, the licence number, its status and, in some cases, the exact domains it covers.

Four registers cover a large share of crypto casinos. Each one searches and displays data its own way, so a quick guide saves time when a check matters.

Below: why a register beats a seal, four registers at a glance, what each one shows, how to read a result, and what to do when the register and the footer disagree.

Why a Register Beats a Seal

Footer seals can link anywhere, and even a polished badge proves little on its own. Register entries live on the regulator's own website and record what the regulator has actually approved.

Three details need to line up: the legal entity in the casino's terms, the licence number, and the web address in your browser. Status matters too, since registers keep revoked and expired entries next to active ones.

Four Registers at a Glance

Each register differs in what it accepts as a search term and what it returns. The table compares them side by side.

1. Anjouan Gaming Public Register

Anjouan's search box takes any one of three inputs: a licence number, a company or a website address. Each hit lists the licensee, its number, the activity class (B2C for operators that serve players, B2B for suppliers) and a status label, and a companion page explains what every label means.

The authority notes that it updates the data periodically and that a listing confirms a licence, never an endorsement. Dexsport, which operates through Dexapp LTD, publishes an Anjouan licence, and its domain works as a search term on this register.

2. Curaçao Gaming Authority Register

Curaçao switched to direct licences when its new gaming law, known locally as the LOK, took effect in December 2024. The Curaçao Gaming Authority's register now lists each licensed company with its licence type, status, validity dates and authorised domains.

Older numbers in formats such as 8048/JAZ belong to the master licence system that the reform replaced. Footers that show only one of those formats deserve a closer look on the current register.

3. Malta Gaming Authority Registers

The Malta Gaming Authority keeps two records worth a bookmark. Its licensee register confirms a company's licence and status, while its enforcement register lists suspensions, cancellations and revocations back to 2013, filterable by year.

Enforcement entries show the company, the licence number, the effective date, the legal grounds and any directions, such as refunds to players. Few crypto-first casinos hold a Malta licence, yet the record helps when a brand claims one.

4. Kahnawake Gaming Commission Permit Holders

The Kahnawake Gaming Commission, based in Kahnawà:ke near Montreal, publishes a list of operators that hold its Client Provider Authorizations, with company names and website addresses. Mohawk Internet Technologies has held the single Interactive Gaming Licence for its data centre since 1999.

The list displays its own last-update date, which read September 2023 at the time of this check. For a current status, contact the commission directly. Our guide to offshore licence types explains how these regimes compare.

How to Read a Result

Name matches alone settle little. Four checks turn a register hit into real confirmation.

  • Legal entity: the company in the register should match the company in the casino's terms

  • Domain: the site you use should appear against the licence where the register lists domains

  • Status: active, suspended, revoked or expired each mean something different

  • Dates: validity windows show whether the licence is current

Our walkthrough of licence seals checked applies these checks to six casinos.

When the Register and the Footer Disagree

Mismatches happen for innocent and less innocent reasons. Companies may operate several brands, registers may lag behind a recent change, or a badge may point to a licence that belongs to someone else.

Ask the casino's support team for a written explanation of the difference, and check the regulator's enforcement records where they exist. Hold off on any deposit until the record and the footer line up.

Conclusion

Four registers cover much of the crypto casino world: Anjouan's public register, the Curaçao Gaming Authority's register, the Malta Gaming Authority's licensee and enforcement records, and the Kahnawake Gaming Commission's permit list. Each searches and displays data differently.

Match the company, the licence number, the domain and the status before you trust a badge. Bookmark the official addresses, type them in yourself, and repeat the check whenever a casino changes its footer or terms.

Check the law where you live, play only at legal age, and expect that KYC or AML checks may apply. Responsible gambling includes a clear view of who stands behind the platform you use.
