Kalshi restricted countries
Kalshi opened to traders outside the US in October 2025, saying it had gone live in more than 140 countries.
Its member agreement lists the exceptions. The version dated September 21, 2026 names 55 restricted jurisdictions, plus anywhere under comprehensive US sanctions.
The list covers much of Europe, including the UK, France, Italy and Poland. Canada, Australia, India and Singapore are on it too.
It applies to anyone located or domiciled in a listed country. A visitor from elsewhere is still restricted while there.
Polymarket restricted countries
Polymarket's international site sorts countries three ways. Blocked means no trading at all, not even closing a position.
Close-only means you can exit what you hold but not open anything new. Partial means only part of the country, or some markets, is restricted.
4 countries are fully blocked: Cuba, Iran, North Korea and Syria. So are Crimea, Donetsk and Luhansk in Ukraine.
36 are close-only, including the UK, France, Germany, Australia, Brazil and Singapore. In Canada, British Columbia, Ontario, Alberta and Quebec are close-only.
The US is close-only on the international site too. Americans trade on Polymarket US instead.

Countries whose own regulators have acted
A venue's list is not the whole story. Some governments block the apps themselves.
In March 2026, a Buenos Aires court ordered Argentina's communications regulator to block Polymarket nationwide. It also told Apple and Google to pull the app.
Ukraine ordered internet providers to block Polymarket earlier in 2026, as part of a wider crackdown on online betting.
Argentina is not on Polymarket's own list, which is why both checks matter. If your country treats event contracts as gambling, a venue's silence does not make them legal.
How to fund Polymarket and Kalshi from abroad
Kalshi takes debit cards, wires of $1,000 or more and crypto from international users. ACH, PayPal and Venmo work only in the US.
Withdrawals go back by debit card or crypto.
Polymarket's international site runs on USDC, a dollar stablecoin. It charges no deposit or withdrawal fee, though the service you buy USDC from may.

What to check before you sign up
Not restricted is not the same as legal. It means the country is missing from the venue's list, nothing more.
Close-only is not access. On Polymarket it lets you exit a position, not open one.
Where you are counts, not only your passport. Both apps check location, and trading from a restricted country breaks their terms however you connect.

If you are in the US
Kalshi is a US exchange, and Americans use it directly. Polymarket US is the app for Americans; the international site is close-only.
