I&amp;#39;m guessing it&amp;#39;ll be packaged in some way to make it more palatable to their wealthy clients, perhaps an &amp;#39;&amp;#39;ISA&amp;#39;&amp;#39; type account or some form of passive fund where Barclays/Copper take custody&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;5.5 years of sending money from my bank account to Kraken, I&amp;#39;ve never had one e-mail or call to verify anything, let alone any fraud prevention calls.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;I send a small sum as a test transaction - &lt;strong&gt;lands in on the exchange in minutes&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;I send £2000 to the same address 10 mins later &lt;strong&gt;&amp;amp; receive a call IMMEDIATELY&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;Some of the questioning was just odd &amp;amp; very intrusive, but has never ever happened before.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;The anti-fraud stuff i understand asking &lt;strong&gt;my details &amp;amp; &amp;#39;&amp;#39;where are you sending this &amp;amp; how did you fund it &amp;#39;&amp;#39;&lt;/strong&gt; etc but then, proceeded to ask me, &lt;strong&gt;what was basically a market research questionnaire that I was emphatically told was &amp;#39;&amp;#39;necessary to clear the funds&amp;#39;&amp;#39; but in hindsight wasn&amp;#39;t at all &amp;amp; the lady backed down &amp;amp; cleared the funds.&lt;/strong&gt; &lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&amp;#x200B;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;ul&gt; &lt;li&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&amp;#39;&amp;#39;So, what crypto coin are you buying...?&amp;#39;&amp;#39;&lt;/strong&gt; - excuse me? what relevance does that have? maybe i&amp;#39;m sending it to the exchange so i have liquid cash ready to deploy in future? that is so intrusive. All you need to know is that, yes it is me sending it &amp;amp; i know the account im sending it to....the lady asked me multiple times &amp;amp; &lt;strong&gt;said the funds wouldn&amp;#39;t be cleared&lt;/strong&gt; until i refused outright &amp;amp; suddenly it wasn&amp;#39;t &lt;strong&gt;&amp;#39;&amp;#39;necessary&amp;#39;&amp;#39;&lt;/strong&gt; anymore?&lt;/li&gt; &lt;/ul&gt; &lt;p&gt;&amp;#x200B;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;ul&gt; &lt;li&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&amp;#39;&amp;#39;Do you use a 3rd party to buy crypto&amp;#39;&amp;#39;&lt;/strong&gt; - what on earth has this got to do with anything?&lt;/li&gt; &lt;/ul&gt; &lt;p&gt;&amp;#x200B;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;ul&gt; &lt;li&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&amp;#39;&amp;#39;How much research do you conduct before you buy cryptocurrencies?&amp;#39;&lt;/strong&gt;&amp;#39; - again, what? &lt;/li&gt; &lt;/ul&gt; &lt;p&gt;&amp;#x200B;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;These are all perfectly reasonable questions for a voluntary questionnaire, not a stressful &amp;#39;&amp;#39;fraud prevention&amp;#39;&amp;#39; call because you&amp;#39;ve locked my funds &amp;amp; wont release until i declare my investment thesis &amp;amp; timings???&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&amp;#x200B;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;SHOCK HORROR:&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;a href=&quot;https://news.sky.com/story/barclays-snaps-up-stake-in-2bn-cryptocurrency-firm-copper-12658295&quot;&gt;https://news.sky.com/story/barclays-snaps-up-stake-in-2bn-cryptocurrency-firm-copper-12658295&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;The above link makes a lot more sense now in hindsight &amp;amp; I&amp;#39;ve never been more convinced banks like Barclays are edging closer to becoming a &amp;#39;&amp;#39;trusted&amp;#39;&amp;#39; 3rd party for their customers to gain exposure to crypto, without having to actually custody the assets themselves. &lt;strong&gt;This is HUGE for institutional investors &amp;amp; lo and behold, Barclays now own a large stake in a UK, crypto, custody company.
