Zcash Price Stabilizes at $1,200 Support Before NU7 Hard Fork

The Zcash (ZEC) ecosystem is in the middle of its most historic week of developments in years. The network is poised to implement Network Upgrade 7 (NU7) on November 5, 2026, and is also working on a big governance impasse in the boardroom regarding its $125 million community development fund.
Zcash NU7 Hard Fork Speeds Up the Blockchain
Scheduled to trigger at block height 3,543,405 on November 5, NU7 is a hard fork designed to triple the network’s transaction processing speed. The upgrade will slash target block times from 75 seconds down to 25 seconds. This decrease will be reflected in the crypto exchange, where standard three-confirmation deposit time will drop from approximately 4 minutes to 75 seconds.
To maintain Zcash’s capped 21 million total supply and its Bitcoin-aligned halving schedule, per-block emissions will decrease proportionally. Additionally, this hard fork permanently retires “Sprout,” Zcash’s original 2016 privacy pool.
More than 22,309 ZEC (approximately $28 million) are currently locked in old ZEC addresses housed in Sprout, and users will have to move these coins to newer pools before November 5; otherwise, they will be permanently stuck in those old addresses.
$125 Million Governance Compromise Reached
The technical upgrade was accompanied by a dramatic governance development by ecosystem leaders on November 2. High-profile whale investors and Gemini co-founder Tyler Winklevoss had recently protested the Zcash Community Grants (ZCG) program, which automatically received an 8% slice of all newly minted block rewards. The critics cited the lack of direct representation of the coinholders in the fund.
In a compromise brokered by Zcash co-founders Sean Bowe and Zooko Wilcox, and endorsed today by ZODL founder Josh Swihart, the automatic 8% block reward stream to the ZCG will be entirely terminated. Instead, future emissions will be directed to a “Future Dev and Legal Defense Fund” to offset investors’ worries of a sell-off and, in the lead-up to the hard fork on Thursday, presumably stabilize the ecosystem.
Zcash Price Risks a Breakdown Below $1,150 Amid H&S Pattern
For over a month, the Zcash price has been consolidating in a narrow range from $1,365 to $1,117. The lateral movement showed several price rejections from both sides, indicating a lack of conviction from buyers or sellers amid a broader market pullback.
However, a broader analysis of daily charts shows this sideways trend as part of a classic reversal pattern called head and shoulders. The chart setup is commonly spotted at the peak of a local top, signaling a pivot moment for price reversal.
With sustained selling, the ZEC coin could breach the $1,150 neckline support and trigger the H&S pattern. A potential breakdown will intensify the selling pressure and also bring the 100-day exponential moving averages (EMA) into sellers’ control
A post-breakdown fall could drive the 24% down to hit $871 support, followed by $750.

On the contrary note, the long-term trend in Zcash remains strongly bullish, and the current correction is well above the 38.2% Fibonacci retracement floor at $1,116. From a technical outlook, an asset above the 50% retracement floor remains under bulls’ control; such a correction could replenish the exhausted bullish momentum.
Thus, if the Zcash coin holds above the neckline support of the H & S pattern, the price trend could enter a long consolidation before the next breakout.
