Abu Dhabi-based Further Asset Management is integrating Chainlink’s Automated Compliance Engine into a new platform designed to evaluate whether tokenized-asset transactions meet configured jurisdictional rules before execution. The initiative illustrates a shift from treating regulation as a manual back-office check to making some compliance policies part of digital-asset transaction workflows.

Abu Dhabi Chainlink ACE regulatory compliance tokenized assets

In its October 27 announcement, Further said the Anubis platform will initially focus on the Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) regulatory environment. Chainlink’s Automated Compliance Engine, or ACE, is intended to apply policy checks to proposed tokenized-asset transfers, including rules relevant to identity verification, sanctions, ownership, issuance and custody.

The announcement describes a configurable technology framework, not a new regulation or automatic legal approval for every token that passes a software test. Actual compliance depends on the correctness of policies, the quality of input data and the actions taken when a transaction is flagged.

What programmable compliance actually means

For a restricted token, transfer conditions might depend on the holder’s identity, country of residence, accredited-investor status or the specific legal limitations of the underlying financial asset. If a transfer can be checked against those constraints before completion, a platform may reduce some manual reviews and prevent certain prohibited actions from settling onchain.

Anubis aims to turn selected rules into machine-readable instructions and apply them through Chainlink ACE. A digital policy layer can offer consistent decisions and logs, but it cannot know whether a real-world identity document is genuine unless it has access to trustworthy verification services and updated records.

Regulations also evolve. Changes in sanctions designations or local licensing requirements require updated policies and carefully managed governance. A software system that enforces yesterday’s rules consistently is still non-compliant if the underlying law has changed.

Why institutional tokenization needs more than code

Institutional assets often carry strict limits on eligible investors and transfers. An unrestricted peer-to-peer token-transfer design may conflict with those legal obligations, even if the network itself processes transactions correctly.

Adding policy enforcement at the transaction layer could allow regulated issuers to use blockchain infrastructure without relying entirely on post-transaction remediation. But centralized policy administration can also introduce censorship and availability risks that users need to understand.

Further says a later dashboard may give service providers and regulators visibility into compliance decisions, while the platform could expand into other jurisdictions. Those are future features and should not be presented as already deployed across global financial markets.

The initial operating scope is ADGM, where financial services are regulated by the Financial Services Regulatory Authority. That geographic specificity matters: passing a rule set written for ADGM does not necessarily meet MiCA obligations in Europe or securities law requirements in the United States.

For institutional investors and asset issuers, the real test will be whether the platform correctly rejects impermissible transfers, permits compliant ones and produces auditable evidence without exposing sensitive customer information. A partnership can demonstrate technical direction; operational compliance requires independent oversight and ongoing controls.
