Holding the Line: Ethereum Tests Critical Support Near $2,350

Ethereum is testing investors’ resolve as its price fluctuates within a narrow range. After a volatile trading week marked by sharp swings, the second-largest cryptocurrency is approaching a critical technical decision point.

As of October 23, 2026, at 15:00 UTC, ETH trades at $2,398.19, down 1.2% over the past seven days.

The key question is whether buyers can defend the $2,300–$2,350 support zone or whether another breakdown could expose Ethereum to further losses.

A Sharp Rebound Meets Renewed Selling Pressure

Ethereum experienced a turbulent week. Around October 19, its price fell to a local low near $2,330 before buyers stepped in and triggered a sharp recovery.

The rebound carried ETH toward $2,500 on October 22, but the rally lost momentum as traders began taking profits.

The subsequent retreat toward $2,400 suggests that buyers have not yet established firm control.

Although the recovery showed that demand remains present at lower prices, Ethereum needs to reclaim higher levels to demonstrate that bullish momentum is returning.

On-chain developments provide additional context. In September, TechGaged reported that Ethereum exchange balances had fallen to historically low levels.

Lower exchange balances can reduce the amount of ETH immediately available for sale, although they do not guarantee a price increase or eliminate selling pressure.

Ethereum’s $2,350 Support Faces a Critical Test

The $2,300–$2,350 zone remains the most important support area in the current setup.

Buyers defended this region during the recent sell-off, making it a key level to watch for signs of renewed demand.

If ETH holds above this zone and recovers toward $2,450, the next major test would be the psychological resistance at $2,500.

A sustained move above $2,500 could improve the short-term outlook and create room for a broader recovery.

However, a decisive break below $2,300 would weaken the current structure and raise the risk of a deeper correction.

Traders should look for confirmation through price action and trading volume rather than treating a brief move below support as an established breakdown.

Network activity may also influence longer-term sentiment. TechGaged previously reported that Ethereum transactions exceeded 200 million in the first quarter of 2026.

Rising transaction activity can indicate expanding network usage, but it does not automatically translate into stronger ETH demand or immediate price appreciation.

Macro Context and Market Sentiment

The wider macroeconomic environment remains challenging for digital assets. Elevated energy prices and geopolitical uncertainty are weighing on risk appetite, while investors await the Federal Reserve meeting scheduled for October 27–28.

Any change in interest-rate expectations could influence liquidity and speculative demand across the crypto market.

Ethereum’s price direction will therefore depend on both its technical structure and the broader market environment.

For now, the outlook hinges on the $2,300–$2,350 support zone. If buyers defend it and reclaim $2,450, a retest of $2,500 could follow.

If support fails, further downside becomes more likely. Until either scenario gains confirmation, Ethereum remains at a critical crossroads.
