Ethereum Price Below $2,300: Is $2,000 Next or Is This the Bottom?

$Ethereum is trading around $2,250 today, down about 2% in 24 hours and roughly 12% below where it stood before the Binance hack. It has now lost the $2,300 level that held through most of October. Live prices are on our crypto prices page.

The question every $ETH holder is typing into Google right now: does it stop here, or is $2,000 the next stop?
Why Is Ethereum Price Falling?
Three things are hitting ETH harder than Bitcoin this week:
- DeFi outflows: roughly 1.39 million ETH, worth about $3.2 billion, has been pulled from DeFi protocols in a week. Part of that is the KelpDAO and LayerZero exploit fallout, part is simple de-risking.
- The Ethereum reorg: a chain reorganisation over the weekend forced THORChain to pause several networks. Technically minor, but it adds to the "infrastructure under stress" narrative.
- Beta to Bitcoin: when BTC loses a key level, ETH typically loses 1.5x as much. BTC gave up $80,000, ETH gave up $2,300.
Ethereum Whales Are Buying: The Bullish Signal
Here is the other side of the ledger. On-chain data shows a single whale wallet spent close to $63 million over five hours buying 27,553 ETH at an average of $2,286, after already picking up 16,658 ETH at $2,279 earlier. That is not panic behaviour. Large holders are treating $2,250 to $2,300 as an accumulation zone, and the ETH/BTC ratio has actually risen about 5% over seven days.
Will Ethereum Drop to $2,000? The Levels to Watch
- $2,200: the first real support, where whale bids are clustered
- $2,100: the low from the October 7 flash crash
- $2,000: psychological level and the 2026 yearly low zone
- $2,400: reclaiming this would put the bulls back in control
A daily close below $2,200 opens the door to $2,000 quickly, because there is very little trading history between the two. A hold above $2,200 through the midterms likely means the bottom is in.

Is Ethereum a Good Buy Now?
If you believe the Binance hack and the Fed pause are one-off shocks, ETH at $2,250 with whales accumulating is a reasonable entry for a long-term position. If you are trading, wait for the reaction at $2,200. The risk/reward only becomes clearly favourable once BTC stabilises above $76,000.
