Any Ethereum price prediction 2026 now starts from a weak base. ETH traded at $2,308.06 at 02:27 UTC on October 29, 2026, according to CoinGecko market data, down 41.73% over 12 months. With about two months left in the year, many of the targets published earlier look distant, so the scenarios below rely on dated data and named forecasts.

Key Takeaways

  • ETH sits about 53% below its all-time high of $4,946.05, set on August 24, 2025.
  • Glamsterdam, the next major upgrade, went live on the Sepolia testnet, but its Hoodi testnet date was postponed and no mainnet date is set as of late October 2026.
  • Published 2026 forecasts span from InvestingHaven’s $1,550 range low to Standard Chartered’s $7,500 target. That spread shows how uncertain forecasting is.
  • Our scenarios are estimates, not advice. ETH can lose a large share of its value quickly.

Other trackers show similar numbers. Fortune reported ETH at $2,363.28 at 7 a.m. ET on October 28, 11.59% below its level a month earlier ($2,673.38) and 40.62% below a year earlier ($3,980.20).

Price history and key levels

ETH’s all-time low, per CoinGecko, is $0.432979. Its all-time high of $4,946.05 came on August 24, 2025. Since then the trend has been lower, and the recent Ethereum losing streak has pushed price back toward the $2,300 area.

Two reference points matter for the rest of 2026. The first is the roughly $2,673 level ETH held a month before October 28, per Fortune. ETH has dropped more than 11% from there since. The second is the $1,800-$2,000 zone, which Fundstrat’s internal outlook, as reported by Wu Blockchain, named as a possible first-half 2026 low. That window has closed, but the zone remains a nearby downside reference. We’ve also covered why $2,720 was flagged as a first recovery test for bulls.

Drivers and catalysts

The Glamsterdam upgrade

The Ethereum Foundation’s testnet announcement scheduled Glamsterdam for Sepolia on October 6, 2026. The upgrade adds enshrined proposer-builder separation, block-level access lists and gas-pricing changes. According to BloFin, it follows Pectra (May 7, 2025) and Fusaka (December 3, 2025).

But the timeline slipped. On October 22, developers postponed the Hoodi activation planned for October 26 after calling for more investigation of EIP-8037 interactions with mainnet smart contracts. IQ.wiki noted that as of October 24 no new Hoodi date or mainnet epoch had been set, with mainnet still provisionally targeted for Q4 2026.

Macro, ETFs and Bitcoin

PrimeXBT named Fed rate cuts, renewed spot ETF inflows and post-Fusaka scaling as the main bullish catalysts. Bitcoin’s direction matters too: Tom Lee’s $6,000 call was explicitly tied to BTC reaching $150,000. Our Bitcoin price prediction 2026 scenarios cover that side of the market.

Risks to watch

  • Volatility: ETH fell more than 13% in 30 days. Drawdowns of that size can repeat without warning.
  • Upgrade delays: further Glamsterdam slippage could weigh on sentiment.
  • User security: the Ethereum Foundation describes blind signing as one way users can approve actions with unwanted results. NewsBTC reported that EIP-7906, one possible route to transaction assertions, is under consideration but not confirmed for a future upgrade. Wallets or protocols would still need to enforce the rules.
  • Exchange and regulatory risk: delistings, platform failures and rule changes can hit liquidity and holders directly.

Ethereum price prediction 2026 scenarios by year

Period Bearish Base Bullish
End of 2026 $1,550 – $1,900 $2,100 – $2,700 $3,175 – $3,500
End of 2027 $1,400 – $2,000 $2,300 – $3,500 $4,000 – $5,000

These ranges are our editorial estimates as of October 28, 2026. They are not price targets and not a recommendation to buy, sell or hold.

Methodology and assumptions

For end-2026, the bearish band uses InvestingHaven’s $1,550 range low and sits near PrimeXBT’s $1,680-$2,090 base case. It assumes the slide continues and Glamsterdam slips into 2027. The base band is anchored around Changelly’s $2,183 December average, as cited by Yahoo Finance, and tops out near the $2,673 level from late September. The bullish band runs from Citi’s $3,175 target to InvestingHaven’s $3,500 call. Reaching it would take a rally of roughly 38-52% in about two months.

Higher calls exist. CoinGecko’s roundup cites Fundstrat’s $4,500 year-end target. MEXC reported that Standard Chartered cut its end-2026 target from $12,000 to $7,500 in January while lifting its 2030 target to $40,000. From $2,308, those levels would require ETH to roughly double, or more than triple, by year-end, so we treat them as outliers.

The 2027 ranges are more speculative. The bearish case assumes a prolonged bear market. The base case assumes Glamsterdam ships and ETF demand returns gradually. The bullish case assumes a broad crypto recovery that brings ETH back to the area of its $4,946 peak.

FAQ

What is the Ethereum price prediction 2026 from major banks?

According to MEXC, Standard Chartered cut its end-2026 target to $7,500 (from $12,000) in January 2026. CoinGecko’s April roundup listed Citi at $3,175.

Can ETH reach a new all-time high in 2026?

It would need to more than double from $2,308 in about two months. Among the forecasts cited here, only Standard Chartered’s $7,500 target and Tom Lee’s conditional $6,000 call sit above the $4,946.05 record.

When will the Glamsterdam upgrade go live on mainnet?

No date is set. As of October 24, 2026, mainnet was provisionally targeted for Q4 2026 after the Hoodi testnet date was postponed.

Is Ethereum a safe investment?

No crypto asset is safe. ETH fell about 42% in a year, and investors can lose their entire stake. Tax rules also differ by country, so check with a qualified professional before making decisions.
