Is Opinion.trade safe? Our Opinion Labs review

By Jeremy BraginPublished:

Opinion.trade is a real, working prediction market, but a thinner one than its headlines suggest. Opinion Labs runs it on BNB Chain in USDT, and an AI oracle of its own settles results. No regulator licenses it. Its terms bar US residents and citizens. Trading is down more than 90% from January 2026.

Is Opinion.trade legit?

Yes, in the sense that matters first: it is a working market, with real money and known backers. It is not regulated. No financial regulator licenses Opinion, and its terms send disputes to arbitration in Panama.

The terms name the operator as Superchillclub Limited, under the laws of Panama. They do not say where that company is registered. The brand on its docs and X account is Opinion Labs. Its whitepaper adds an Opinion Foundation that steers the protocol during its early stages.

Founder and CEO Forrest Liu took the exchange live on BNB Chain in October 2025. YZi Labs, formerly Binance Labs, led a $5 million seed round in March 2025. Hack VC and Jump Crypto backed a $20 million round in February 2026.

The money was real, but much of it chased an airdrop. DefiLlama counts $12.7 billion traded since October 2025, $3.3 billion of it in January 2026 alone. Since the OPN token launched in March, monthly volume has stayed under $450 million. The last 30 days saw $259 million.

On October 28, 2026, users held about $3.0 million on its contracts. That is small for a market that traded billions a month last winter.

Here is what unregulated means for you. Nobody supervises how Opinion writes or resolves its markets. No compensation scheme backs your balance. A dispute goes to arbitration in Panama, and the terms waive class actions.

Is Opinion.trade safe? How your money is held

Opinion says it never holds your money. Its terms describe your wallet as self-hosted. They say Opinion cannot reach your private key and cannot reverse a transaction.

Its developer docs show how an account is built. A signing key approves your orders. A Gnosis Safe, a smart-contract wallet on BNB Chain, holds your USDT and shares. The docs call it your assets wallet, shown on your profile.

You sign in with a crypto wallet, such as MetaMask or Binance Wallet, or with a Google or X account. Opinion's own blog says the docs do not explain who holds the keys behind a social login. Check that in the app before you fund one.

Outside firms have audited the code. ScaleBit and Zellic reviewed the outcome-token contracts, and ScaleBit reviewed the exchange engine and fee manager. An audit covers one version of the code at one time. It is not a guarantee.

Resolution is the bigger risk. Opinion's docs say most markets resolve through Opinion AI, which it calls a decentralized multi-agent AI oracle. It is Opinion's own system, not an outside oracle like UMA. Its docs do not name the models behind it.

A wrong answer can be challenged, but only briefly. The dispute window is typically two hours. The challenger stakes OPN: 1% of the market's open interest, or 1,000 OPN if that is more. Only one dispute is allowed per result.

The docs do not say who reviews a dispute. And the terms say the company is not responsible for any dispute over how a market resolved. So read each market's rules before you trade it.

Protect yourself the usual way. Open only app.opinion.trade, read every wallet prompt before you sign, and keep only what you are trading there.

Is Opinion.trade gambling?

Opinion calls itself a prediction exchange, and you trade with other users through an order book. Its own terms describe trading as placing wagers with real cryptocurrency. A wrong call loses your stake.

In the US, prediction markets are legal as derivatives on exchanges the CFTC regulates, such as Kalshi. Opinion has no such registration, and it does not serve Americans.

Elsewhere, the label depends on local law. Opinion's terms list the countries it bars; they do not say where its markets count as gambling.

Opinion.trade complaints: the airdrop and the volume drop

We found no hack, exploit or frozen withdrawals at Opinion as of October 28, 2026. The loudest complaints are about its token launch.

  • Points farmers turn on the OPN airdrop Opinion published OPN's tokenomics on March 2, 2026. Only 3.5% of supply reached airdrop users at launch; the rest vests over seven months. Points that had traded near $45 fell to about $6. One influencer said $200,000 of trading earned him 2,000 OPN. Source

The airdrop also explains the volume chart. Points rewarded trading, so traders traded to earn them. DefiLlama shows monthly volume falling from $3.3 billion in January 2026 to $272 million in March.

The token has fallen too. OPN traded near $0.05 on October 28, 2026, about 89% below its high on March 5. That matters here, because OPN is what you stake to challenge a market's result.

How Opinion.trade works

Every market is a question, and every answer trades as shares priced below 1 USDT. A share in the right answer pays 1 USDT when the market settles. A share in the wrong one pays nothing. Opinion runs an order book, so you trade with other users, not against the house.

A worked example: 100 Yes contracts at 40¢
Cost of the contracts$40.00
FeeShown before you trade
Paid out if the answer is Yes$100.00, less the fee
Paid out if the answer is No$0.00, a loss of $40.00 plus the fee

The fee row is blank because each market sets its own base rate. Opinion's own fee examples use a 4% base rate. On this trade, that would be $0.38, above the $0.25 minimum.

You place an order by signing it; Opinion's order book matches it off-chain. Matched trades settle on BNB Chain, and Opinion pays that gas. You can sell before the market closes at the best bid on the book.

Opinion.trade fees, with the arithmetic

Takers pay up to 1% of a trade's value, most at 50¢, with a $0.25 minimum; makers pay nothing.

Opinion's formula: amount spent × the market's base rate × price × (1 − price), less discounts. If that comes to under $0.25, you pay $0.25.

In plain terms, the floor bites on small trades. At a 4% base rate, a $10 buy at 50¢ costs $0.10 by the formula. You pay $0.25, which is 2.5% of the trade.

Some markets charge less, or nothing. Opinion does not publish each market's base rate, so check the order preview before you confirm.

Makers pay nothing, and they earn back 50% of the taker's fee as a rebate. A referral code cuts your taker fee by up to 10%. No discount takes the fee below $0.25.

Opinion pays the gas for matched trades. Other on-chain actions, such as filing a dispute, need a little BNB for gas. The smallest order is $5, and so is the smallest withdrawal.

Does Opinion.trade pay out? Settlement and withdrawals

Each winning share pays 1 USDT once its market is final. Most markets resolve through Opinion AI, and a dispute window follows, typically two hours. With no dispute, the result becomes final and winning shares can be redeemed for USDT.

If someone disputes, payout waits for a review. Opinion's docs do not say who reviews it or how long it takes. If the review times out, the dispute wins and the market can be resolved again later.

A withdrawal sends USDT out of your account on BNB Chain. The minimum is $5. Opinion publishes no withdrawal time or limit, and we found no reports of withdrawals held back.

One rule can freeze you. Break the location rules, including with a VPN, and Opinion can put your wallet in close-only mode.

What you can trade on Opinion.trade

Opinion lists sports, esports, politics, crypto, finance, business, the economy, tech and culture. On October 28, 2026, its API showed 419 open markets, 172 of them in sports.

Its niche is crypto and macro. Pre-TGE markets ask whether a project will launch a token, or at what valuation. Others track Fed rate cuts and month-end stock prices.

Trading is concentrated in a few markets. On October 28, the busiest were the League of Legends Worlds winner and which companies will be acquired before 2027.

Prices are public: anyone can browse markets on app.opinion.trade without an account. CoinStats does not compare Opinion's prices with other venues.

Where Opinion.trade is available

Not in the US. Its terms bar anyone who lives in, is located in or is a citizen of the United States. So an American living abroad is barred too.

The terms also bar the United Kingdom, France, Ontario, Singapore, Poland, Thailand and South Korea. Mainland China, Taiwan and Hong Kong are out, along with sanctioned countries and regions.

Using a VPN to get around the list breaks the terms. Opinion can then put your wallet in close-only mode. You must also be 18 or older.

In the US, the regulated choices are Kalshi and Polymarket US. Check whether prediction markets are legal in your state first.

Not legal advice.

Is there an Opinion.trade app?

No: we found no Opinion app on the App Store. You trade at app.opinion.trade in a browser. Sign in with Binance Wallet, OKX Wallet, MetaMask, Backpack or Coinbase Wallet, or with Google or X.

We found no identity check in its terms or docs. Developers can also trade through an open API and Python or TypeScript kits; an API key needs an application.

Opinion pros and cons

Pros

  • Makers trade free. Resting orders pay no fee and earn half the taker's fee back as a rebate.
  • Capped taker fees. At most 1% of a trade's value, though a $0.25 minimum hits small orders.
  • Audited contracts. ScaleBit, Zellic and Pashov reviewed its outcome-token, exchange and OPN token code.
  • Gas covered on trades. Opinion pays the BNB Chain gas when your orders match.

Cons

  • Its own AI resolves markets. Most outcomes come from Opinion AI, with a short, OPN-staked window to challenge them.
  • Trading has thinned. Monthly volume is down more than 90% from January 2026, after the airdrop.
  • No regulator. No licence, arbitration in Panama and a class-action waiver.
  • Closed to US citizens. And to the UK, France, South Korea, mainland China and several other places.

Opinion.trade vs the alternatives

Its closest rival is Predict.fun, also on BNB Chain and also backed by YZi Labs. Predict settles most markets through UMA's oracle, not its own AI. Outside the US, Polymarket has far more trading on the same UMA model. Limitless is another crypto order book. In the US, use a regulated exchange such as Kalshi.

Our verdict: should you use Opinion.trade?

If you are in the US, or a US citizen anywhere, no. Its terms bar you, and a VPN breaks them.

Elsewhere, Opinion is a real exchange with audited contracts, known backers and free maker trading. But its own AI settles most markets, and the window to challenge a result is short. Trading has also thinned since the airdrop. Read each market's rules, keep balances small and withdraw what you are not trading.
