DraftKings Predictions vs FanDuel Predicts: which prediction app should you use?

By Jeremy BraginLast updated: How we score

For most readers, DraftKings Predictions. It owns its exchange, runs on the web and charges less on long shots. Pick FanDuel Predicts if you want idle cash under CFTC customer-fund rules, or a clean legal record. Both are separate from their sportsbooks, with sports in the same 18 states.

DraftKings Predictions vs FanDuel Predicts at a glance

This is not the sportsbook comparison. It covers the two companies’ prediction apps, which trade event contracts under the CFTC, not state gaming boards.

Both apps sit apart from the sportsbooks. Each sells sports contracts in only 18 states, and neither brand runs an online sportsbook in any of them.

One more mix-up to clear. DraftKings Predictions is not Pick6, DraftKings’ daily fantasy pick’em game. The table shows where the two apps part.

The real difference between DraftKings Predictions and FanDuel Predicts

It is not the map or the fee ceiling. Both offer sports in the same 18 states, and both charge at most 2¢ a contract.

The first difference is who owns the exchange. DraftKings bought Railbird in October 2025, and its exchange now trades as DKeX. DraftKings Predictions also routes orders to CME and to CDNA.

FanDuel owns no exchange. CME Group holds 51% of the venture that runs its broker. It routes to CME and, since June 2026, to OG.

The two overlap more than the logos suggest. DraftKings’ “CDNA” and FanDuel’s “OG” are the same Crypto.com exchange: North American Derivatives Exchange.

Ownership now matters. CME stopped listing new sports and awards contracts on September 11, 2026. DraftKings still has DKeX; FanDuel’s new sports markets come from OG.

The second difference is your wallet. DraftKings Predictions draws on your main DraftKings account. FanDuel Predicts keeps a separate balance that cannot move to the sportsbook. That choice decides who protects your idle cash.

Can you compare DraftKings and FanDuel prediction prices?

DraftKings Predictions and FanDuel Predicts publish no machine-readable prices, so no market can be priced on both here.

Not here. Neither app publishes machine-readable prices, so there is no live market we can show on both.

What you can compare is the cost of a price. Each app publishes its fees, the exchange behind each market and that market’s settlement rules.

To check one question yourself, open both apps and read the price in cents. FanDuel shows multipliers, such as 1.25x, until you switch the display.

Then add each app’s fee from the next section. A 1¢ gap in price can vanish once both fees are in.

DraftKings Predictions vs FanDuel Predicts fees on the same $100 trade

Taker fee on a $100 position, from each venue's published schedule
PriceDraftKings Predictions, sportsFanDuel Predicts
10¢$7.60$20.00
25¢$6.68$8.00
50¢$4.00$4.00
75¢$2.67$2.67
90¢$2.22$2.22

Both top out at 2¢ a contract. FanDuel charges the full 2¢ at every price, while DraftKings steps down at the ends.

At 50¢ they tie. $100 buys 200 contracts, and both charge $4.00. Kalshi’s standard fee on the same trade is $3.50.

Favorites cost the same. At 90¢ both charge 2¢ a contract, so $100 costs $2.22 on either. DraftKings drops below 2¢ only above 94¢.

Long shots cost less on DraftKings. Its DKeX and CDNA markets cut the fee most, stepping down below 30¢. At 10¢, $100 costs $7.60 there, against $20.00 on FanDuel. DraftKings’ CME markets charge $10.00.

Selling early costs again on both. DraftKings charges its fee a second time, at the exit price. FanDuel’s cash-out fee is the same 2¢ a contract, even if you sell for less.

Both quotes are all-in: DraftKings’ fee includes the broker and exchange charges, and FanDuel lists no other. Neither lists a deposit or withdrawal fee.

The full schedules are in our DraftKings Predictions and FanDuel Predicts reviews.

DraftKings Predictions or FanDuel Predicts: which is safer?

On custody, FanDuel. The difference is where your money waits between trades.

At DraftKings, idle cash sits in your DraftKings account, held by an affiliate. It moves to the broker only to back a trade. DraftKings’ terms say CFTC customer-fund rules do not apply to money the affiliate holds.

At FanDuel, Predicts cash sits with the broker, under CFTC rules that keep customer money apart from the firm’s. It is pooled, though. The broker may invest it in Treasuries and keep the interest.

Neither balance is FDIC- or SIPC-insured. On FanDuel, segregation is the protection. On DraftKings, it covers only the cash backing a trade.

On record, FanDuel again. The NFA lists no actions against its broker, and we found no lawsuit naming it. DraftKings faces three suits over its sports contracts, two joined in Massachusetts federal court.

DraftKings’ terms add two warnings. Its affiliates may trade against you. And claims go to Boston courts, with a jury waiver and a one-year deadline.

Both check ID, including a Social Security or tax ID number. FanDuel also asks about your income, net worth and trading experience.

The details are in our DraftKings Predictions review and FanDuel Predicts review.

DraftKings Predictions vs FanDuel Predicts markets

Both lead with sports: the NFL, college football, the NBA, NHL, MLB and soccer. Both add stock-index, commodity, crypto and economic contracts.

On paper, DraftKings’ menu runs wider. It also lists golf, tennis, MMA and the WNBA, plus politics, business and culture markets. FanDuel lists awards-show contracts, and its own pages do not mention politics.

Where you stand changes the menu. In 13 states, DraftKings shows financial markets only. FanDuel shows its non-sports contracts in every state.

Both offer combos, which bundle several picks that must all win. FanDuel’s help center caps them at six picks.

Neither publishes trading volume or market counts we can read, so this page shows none for either.

Deposits, withdrawals and payouts on DraftKings Predictions and FanDuel Predicts

DraftKings lists its Predictions deposit methods only after you log in. Its terms do rule out credit cards, gift cards and cash paid at a retail sportsbook.

FanDuel Predicts takes debit card, Apple Pay and online banking. Neither app publishes a minimum deposit.

Payouts take different paths. On DraftKings, settled cash returns to your DraftKings account, after a DKeX hold of up to 12 hours. DraftKings publishes no withdrawal times for Predictions.

FanDuel credits a win at once, as a pending payout you can trade with. It becomes withdrawable 1 to 2 business days after settlement.

FanDuel then reviews each withdrawal, for up to 24 hours, or 48 for your first. Cards and Apple Pay arrive within 24 hours; banks take up to five business days.

Winning contracts pay $1 on both. Promotional money, DraftKings’ Predictions Dollars or FanDuel’s bonus, cannot be withdrawn.

Settlement and disputes

Both settle on CFTC-regulated exchanges, from the source named in each market’s rules. The exchange, not the app, decides the result.

One twist: on DKeX markets, that exchange belongs to DraftKings. Its rulebook sends disputed results to a Market Outcome Review, which can delay payment.

FanDuel’s markets settle under CME’s or OG’s rules. Some close early once the result is known.

Results can also be corrected after settlement. On FanDuel, a resettlement can push your balance below zero until you top it up.

Read each market’s rules before you trade. The same game can list on different exchanges, with different sources.

DraftKings Predictions and FanDuel Predicts apps and support

DraftKings Predictions: App Store 4.9 (12K) · Google Play 4.8 (2.67K). FanDuel Predicts: App Store 4.8 (6.6K) · Google Play 4.6 (1.69K). Ratings read September 25, 2026.

Star averages hide harsher written reviews for FanDuel. Of its 150 most recent on the App Store, 84 gave one or two stars.

DraftKings Predictions has its own iOS and Android app, a web version and a place inside the main DraftKings app. FanDuel Predicts is a separate iOS and Android app.

Both sign you in with your existing DraftKings or FanDuel login.

Support differs. DraftKings points to its Help Center and support@draftkings.com. FanDuel offers live chat, an email form, and messages on X and Facebook, but no phone line.

Both offer deposit limits and self-exclusion.

Can you use DraftKings Predictions and FanDuel Predicts together?

Yes. Nothing stops you holding both, and in the 18 sports states both list the major US leagues.

Spotting a price gap is the hard part. Neither app publishes prices, so you compare by hand, in cents.

At 50¢, the two fees add 4¢ a contract pair. So Yes on one plus No on the other must cost under 96¢.

Then check the rules. The same game can list on DKeX in one app and OG in the other, with different sources. A “locked” pair can still lose on both sides.
