DraftKings Predictions vs Robinhood: which prediction market app should you use?

By Jeremy BraginLast updated: How we score

For most Americans, Robinhood. Its sports contracts reach most states, its event-contract cash sits segregated at a CFTC-registered broker, and it takes limit orders. Pick DraftKings Predictions if you live in its 18 sports states. It suits DraftKings customers who want one wallet, web trading or cheaper long shots.

DraftKings vs Robinhood prediction markets at a glance

This page compares two prediction apps, not two stocks. It sets DraftKings Predictions, the sportsbook company’s app, against Robinhood’s event contracts.

Both are CFTC-registered brokers, and both run inside a bigger business. DraftKings’ is a sportsbook and casino. Robinhood’s is a stock and crypto brokerage. The table shows where the two apps part.

The real difference between DraftKings Predictions and Robinhood

On structure, they are closer than they look. Each runs a broker that routes to exchanges, and each company controls one of those exchanges.

DraftKings owns its exchange outright. It bought Railbird in October 2025, and that exchange now trades as DKeX. DraftKings Predictions also routes to CDNA and CME.

Robinhood routes to Kalshi, ForecastEx, Rothera and, since September 8, 2026, CDNA. Rothera is the former LedgerX exchange. A Robinhood and Susquehanna venture bought 90% of it in January 2026, and Robinhood names most of its board.

So they share one exchange. CDNA is Crypto.com’s, and both send some markets there.

The real difference is the sportsbook. DraftKings sells sports contracts in only 18 states, none with a DraftKings sportsbook. Robinhood runs no sportsbook, and its sports contracts reach most states.

The wallet follows the same line. DraftKings Predictions draws on your DraftKings account, outside CFTC rules until you trade. Robinhood sweeps cash from your brokerage into a segregated event-contract balance. That decides who protects your idle cash.

Can you compare DraftKings and Robinhood prices?

DraftKings Predictions and Robinhood publish no machine-readable prices, so no market can be priced on both here.

Not side by side. Neither app publishes machine-readable prices, so there is no live market we can show on both.

There is a partial window. Many Robinhood contracts are Kalshi’s, on Kalshi’s own order book. Those prices appear in our live prediction market odds.

DraftKings has no such window. Its DKeX, CDNA and CME prices stay inside its apps and website.

To compare one question yourself, read both prices in cents. Then add each app’s fee from the next section, because a 1¢ gap can vanish.

DraftKings vs Robinhood fees on the same $100 trade

Taker fee on a $100 position, from each venue's published schedule
PriceDraftKings Predictions, sportsRobinhood, on a Kalshi contract
10¢$7.60$19.00
25¢$6.68$8.00
50¢$4.00$4.00
75¢$2.67$2.67
90¢$2.22$2.11

Both top out at 2¢ a contract. What you actually pay depends on the price and the exchange.

At 50¢, they tie on Kalshi-listed contracts. Robinhood’s 1¢ commission plus Kalshi’s 1¢ fee comes to $4.00 on $100. DraftKings charges $4.00 too.

Near 90¢, Robinhood’s commission shrinks while Kalshi’s 1¢ stays. $100 costs $2.11 through Robinhood and $2.22 on DraftKings.

Long shots favor DraftKings’ DKeX and CDNA markets, where its fee steps down below 30¢. At 10¢, $100 costs $7.60 there. A Kalshi contract through Robinhood costs $19.00, or $14.50 with Gold.

Both charge again when you sell early. Robinhood charges commission and the exchange fee on the way out. DraftKings charges its fee at the exit price.

Moving money is where Robinhood can cost more. Bank transfers are free, but instant withdrawals cost 1.75% and wires $25. DraftKings’ fee schedule lists no deposit or withdrawal charges.

The full schedules are in our DraftKings Predictions and Robinhood reviews.

DraftKings Predictions or Robinhood: which is safer?

On custody, Robinhood. The difference is where your money waits between trades.

Robinhood keeps event-contract cash at Robinhood Derivatives, its CFTC-registered broker, in a segregated account. CFTC data for July 31, 2026 show $149 million there, against $26.2 million required.

At DraftKings, idle cash sits in your DraftKings account, held by an affiliate. It moves to the broker only to back a trade. DraftKings’ terms say CFTC customer-fund rules do not apply to it.

Neither balance is FDIC- or SIPC-insured. Robinhood says its derivatives broker “is not FDIC insured or SIPC protected,” though its stock brokerage is a SIPC member.

Who trades against you differs too. Robinhood Derivatives says it does not make markets. DraftKings’ terms say its affiliates may trade against you.

On legal record, both carry fights over sports, and Robinhood has more of them. As of their latest filings, none had ended in a judgment against either.

Both check ID. Robinhood requires a Social Security number and a second approval for event contracts. DraftKings accepts a Social Security or tax ID number.

The details are in our DraftKings Predictions review and Robinhood review.

DraftKings Predictions vs Robinhood markets

Both cover sports, politics, economics, crypto and culture. Robinhood’s hub also has pages for climate, metals, tech and 15-minute crypto prices.

Football gets its own hub on Robinhood, filtered by week, team and conference. DraftKings’ sports menu also lists golf, tennis, MMA and the WNBA.

Where you stand changes the menu more on DraftKings. Outside its 18 sports states it shows no sports, and 13 states get financial markets only. Robinhood’s sports limits cover Maryland, Michigan and Nevada.

Both offer combos. Robinhood’s custom combos take up to 10 legs on pro football and basketball. They fill in full or not at all.

Neither publishes trading volume we can read. Robinhood’s Kalshi-listed contracts trade on Kalshi’s book, which our volume page tracks.

Deposits, withdrawals and payouts on DraftKings Predictions and Robinhood

DraftKings lists its Predictions deposit methods only after you log in. Its terms rule out credit cards, gift cards and cash paid at a retail sportsbook.

Robinhood funds event contracts from your Robinhood account, by bank transfer, debit card or wire. Instant Deposits may not apply, and a bank transfer can take 1 to 5 business days.

Payouts take different paths. On DraftKings, settled cash returns to your DraftKings account, after a DKeX hold of up to 12 hours. DraftKings publishes no withdrawal times for Predictions.

Robinhood says most sports payouts arrive within 1 to 2 business days. The cash is generally withdrawable within 1 business day of settlement.

Robinhood withdrawals by bank transfer are free. Debit card and instant bank transfers arrive within 30 minutes, for 1.75%. Wires cost $25 and go out the same day if sent before 4 PM ET.

Winning contracts pay $1 on both. Neither publishes a minimum deposit for prediction markets.

Settlement and disputes

Both settle on CFTC-regulated exchanges, from the source named in each market’s rules. The exchange, not the app, decides the result.

The owners differ. On DKeX markets, the exchange deciding belongs to DraftKings. Its rulebook sends disputed results to a Market Outcome Review, which can delay payment.

Robinhood says it cannot override a settlement, even when a sports app shows another score. On Rothera, the deciding exchange is one Robinhood partly controls.

Read each market’s rules before you trade. The same game can list on different exchanges, with different sources.

DraftKings Predictions and Robinhood apps and support

DraftKings Predictions: App Store 4.9 (12K) · Google Play 4.8 (2.67K). Robinhood: App Store 4.3 (4.9M) · Google Play 4.7 (577K), for the whole Robinhood app. Ratings read September 25, 2026.

Robinhood’s scores rate its whole app, stocks and crypto included, not prediction markets alone.

DraftKings Predictions has its own iOS and Android app, a web version and a place inside the main DraftKings app. Robinhood’s event contracts trade only in its iOS and Android apps.

Robinhood’s website shows markets but takes no event-contract orders.

Support differs. Robinhood offers 24/7 in-app chat and weekday phone callbacks. DraftKings points to its Help Center and support@draftkings.com.

Both offer self-exclusion. Robinhood also lets you hide sports markets with a toggle, though you can still trade them.

Can you use DraftKings Predictions and Robinhood together?

Yes. Nothing stops you holding both, and in DraftKings’ 18 sports states both list the major US leagues.

Spotting a price gap is the hard part. DraftKings publishes no prices, so you compare by hand, in cents.

At 50¢, the two fees add up to 4¢ a contract pair. So Yes on one plus No on the other must cost under 96¢.

Then check the rules. The same game can list on DKeX in one app and Kalshi in the other, with different sources. A “locked” pair can still lose on both sides.
