Frequently Asked Questions

What is a spot Ethereum ETF?

A spot Ethereum ETF is an investment fund that holds actual ether with a regulated custodian and trades on a traditional stock exchange. Buying a share gives exposure to Ethereum’s price without running a wallet or managing private keys, through an ordinary brokerage account. US spot Ethereum ETFs began trading in July 2024, six months after the first spot Bitcoin funds.

Ether products come in more shapes than Bitcoin ones, and the differences matter more: alongside spot funds there are futures and strategy products, leveraged products that reset daily, and, outside the US, ether ETNs and ETCs. Check the Type column in the table above before comparing two funds, and see the Bitcoin ETF tracker for the BTC equivalents.

The crypto ETF tracker shows the same flow, AUM and fee figures across every asset in one table.

Which Ethereum ETFs does this page track?

This page tracks every spot Ethereum ETF listed in the US, along with the futures and strategy Ether funds trading alongside them. The Type column marks each fund’s structure. Hong Kong listed ether products are not currently included.

Net flow and AUM figures are compiled from the daily reports issuers publish after the US market closes, so the newest complete flow day is the previous trading day. Prices, volumes and premium/discount come from market data feeds and refresh through the trading day. Figures are shown in US dollars and are provided for research purposes only, not as investment advice.

Why do Ethereum ETF flows matter?

Net flow for a fund on a given trading day is the value of newly created shares minus the value of shares redeemed. A positive figure means the fund issued shares and bought more ether; a negative figure means shares were redeemed and ether was sold. Sustained inflows show new capital entering through regulated products, while persistent outflows point to risk-off positioning or profit taking.

Ether ETF flows are smaller and more volatile than Bitcoin’s, so single-day figures are especially noisy — five-day and thirty-day trends are more informative, particularly read alongside sentiment and derivatives positioning such as ETH funding rates.

How is an Ethereum ETF's premium or discount calculated?

Net asset value (NAV) is the per-share value of a fund’s ether holdings. The premium or discount compares a fund’s market price to that NAV per share, expressed as a percentage: a positive number means the ETF is trading above the value of the ether it holds, a negative number means it is trading below.

The gap exists because shares trade continuously while NAV is struck once a day, and because creation and redemption take time to settle. The largest, most liquid funds usually stay within a fraction of a percent; smaller funds can drift further.

Do Ethereum ETF fees affect returns?

Yes. Each fund charges an annual management fee, shown here as its Net Fee, which is deducted from fund assets and reduces an investor’s return relative to holding ether outright. Since spot funds all track the same asset, fees are the clearest differentiator between them, and several launched with temporary waivers.

For ether funds the headline fee is not the whole picture. A fund permitted to stake part of its holdings can earn protocol rewards that offset some of its fee, so a slightly more expensive staking fund may cost less to hold in net terms than a cheaper non-staking one. Reward rates vary and are not guaranteed, and the staking rewards a fund earns are set by network conditions rather than by the issuer.

What does AUM tell you about an Ethereum ETF?

AUM is the total dollar value of the ether a fund currently holds on behalf of its investors. Larger AUM generally means deeper liquidity and tighter bid-ask spreads, though it does not by itself indicate a fund’s recent flow trend.

Read across funds, combined AUM also shows how much of Ethereum’s market cap now sits inside regulated products — the AUM / Market Cap chart above plots that share over time against the Ethereum price. Unlike Bitcoin, Ethereum has no fixed supply cap, so the share is measured against circulating supply and moves as issuance and burning change the total.

Is there an ETF that tracks Ethereum?

Yes. US spot Ethereum ETFs launched in July 2024 and hold actual ether with a regulated custodian, so their share price tracks Ethereum’s market price. There are also futures and strategy funds that track the price through contracts rather than holding ether, plus ether ETNs listed in Europe that are not legally the same product as a US ETF. Every fund tracked here appears in the table above with its structure.

How many spot Ethereum ETFs are there?

The fund table above lists every spot Ethereum ETF this page tracks, alongside the futures and strategy products, with the Type column marking which is which — filter or read down that column for the current spot count. The total changes as funds launch, convert or close, and the table updates each trading day.

How much Ethereum do ETFs hold?

Spot Ethereum ETFs hold actual ether in custody, and issuers publish their holdings each trading day, so combined ETF holdings show how much supply has moved into regulated funds. Ethereum has no fixed supply cap, so the total is quoted against circulating supply rather than against a cap.

A fund’s dollar AUM and its holdings in ETH can move in opposite directions on a volatile day: the dollar figure blends fund activity with Ethereum’s price move, while an ETH figure isolates how much ether actually entered or left custody. For tracking supply absorption, ETH is the cleaner measure, and the Ethereum Rainbow Chart is one way to read that against long-run price bands.

Which is the best Ethereum ETF to buy?

Spot Ethereum ETFs all track the same asset, so the practical differences are the expense ratio, shown as Net Fee above; whether the fund stakes any of its ether and at what net yield; trading volume and liquidity, which drive spreads and how closely market price stays to NAV; and the issuer and custodian behind the fund. Futures and leveraged products track Ethereum less directly.

Ether ETF volume is concentrated in a small number of funds, so the Volume and AUM columns separate the actively traded products from the rest quickly. This is not investment advice and no fund listed here is a recommendation.

Do Ethereum ETFs stake their ETH?

Some are permitted to. Ethereum runs on proof of stake, so ether held by a fund can be delegated to validators to earn protocol rewards, which accrue to the fund and can offset part of its fee — something no Bitcoin ETF can do.

Staking also introduces its own considerations: reward rates vary with network conditions, staked ether is not instantly liquid, and issuers differ in how much of the fund they stake and how they handle validator risk. Whether a given fund stakes is set out in its own issuer disclosures, and Ethereum staking explains how the underlying mechanism works.

Staking rewards earned inside a fund are not the same as staking ether yourself. Holding ether directly and delegating it keeps custody and the choice of validator with you, which a DeFi portfolio tracker can then monitor alongside the rest of your positions.

What is the difference between a spot and a futures Ethereum ETF?

A spot Ethereum ETF holds actual ether with a custodian, so its share price tracks the spot market directly. A futures ETF holds regulated futures contracts instead, with no direct ownership of ether. Because expiring contracts must be rolled forward, futures products carry extra cost and can drift away from spot prices over longer holding periods. Ether futures funds were available in the US from October 2023, before spot funds were approved.

What is a 3x Ethereum ETF?

A 3x or 2x ether product aims to deliver a multiple of Ethereum’s daily return using derivatives, and resets that exposure each day. Because the reset compounds, returns over weeks or months can differ sharply from three times the period return, especially in volatile markets. These are short-term trading instruments rather than exposure vehicles, and they are marked as leveraged or strategy products in the Type column above.

Can I track Ethereum ETF flows on mobile?

Yes. The CoinStats app for iOS, Android and macOS includes Ethereum ETF flow data alongside portfolio tracking, price alerts and market charts, so you can check daily inflows and outflows without opening a browser. The same figures shown on this page are available in the app.
